Well that worked out well for them.  :-\ Shouldn't have traded Billups. Trading Prince, Sheed or Rip for different pieces would have been a better option.

I might have the blessing of hindsight, but I always thought Curry was a sacrificial lamb/lame duck for this season.

Dumars had a plan for rebuilding the Pistons on the fly, and I couldn't see anyone but a rookie coach wanting to try to steer the ship through those waters.

Chad Ford hinted that Doug Collins and Avery Johnson were two possibilities to take over.

I would've thought that he would be fired sooner. He did a bad job with that team.

Yeah, I agree, it's almost a surprise to hear the he's been fired since he should have been fired 3 months ago already.

Odd timing ... I wonder if something happened recently.

Players went against him? Free agents didn't like him?

It seems odd that Joe Dumars took so long. What is it now? Two months since the Pistons season ended? That seems strange.

They won't go after Thibs. Supposedly they want someone with NBA head coaching experience this time.

Now Minny might go after Thibs though...

Also, in terms of timing, Bill Laimbeer has recently stepped down as coach of the Shock.

People claim that Dumars wants someone with NBA experience, but who really knows what Dumars wants? He's not afraid to buck popular convention.

$30+ million player versus a coach, this is what usually happens. Flip Saunders got a bum rap for not getting a second title out of this team in my opinion.

Hiring Thibodeau reminds me a lot of Joe Dumars hiring Rick Carlisle.

I think Thibs could get some interest for this vacancy.

Not sure Joe D is interested in Laimbeer, he didn't seem too high on Bill in the past.
