Daniels is probably the second best choice for a wing after Grant Hill. He'll cost real money though, either the full MLE or a large portion of it.

THe C's would have to fix their backup big man situation with the LLE or minimum contract players -- and it's a lot harder to get low priced high quality big man than it is to get wings in free agency.

I agree.  It makes a lot more sense to go after Hill with the LLE and then sign a big with the MLE.
Yeah, that makes sense, but I'd rather have someone that could give us a few years.

We need Artest & only a Artest type of player. Someone who is going to fight for & with his team whether they are 62-20 or 26-56. Losing should not breed bad habits & un-enthusiastic play ever. Danny should skip all other offseason plans like trading Rondo, Signing Sheed or Dice & get on the phone with Houston & work the lines. Yao uncertain, Tracy uncertain so I think he could be had. That move would trump every team in the NBA & put us back at 1.

What are you talking about? Tracy McGrady? yea that guy is exaclty the teammate you want..... He said that he hoped his team got bounced out of the playoffs last year because he wasn't playing, is coming off 2 years of injuries and has never been out of the 1st round. He isn't even going to be able to play until a few months into the season and you would have to give up Ray to get him. Wow I am glad you are not the Celtics GM...

Based on the intention of the paragraph, I assume the "he" in "he could be had" refers to Artest, not T-Mac.
Celtics fan for life.

  • Rondo = Good
The main problem I see with Marquis Daniels is he's not a good outside shooter and ideally we would get somebody who could hit corner 3's if left open like Posey did.  Daniels is also not known as a great defender, and good defense is another thing we need from our wing backup.

However, if we acquired Daniels but then picked up a guy who can defend well and hit open 3's like Dahntay Jones, Keith Bogans, or Ime Udoka, then I wouldn't mind having Daniels.

We'd still need to get a backup center somehow, though.  I like the idea of trading for Diop, he's just the kind of guy we need.  Big, long, and good on defense.  He also plays for a team that seems likely to give up a decent player in return for expiring contracts.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.
