He was better on D than House and he helped House get good looks on the 2nd unit.  That's about it for the positives. His lack of scoring destroyed the rest of his game.  He was always a guy who had to score to set up his passing game.  Guys went under every screen and he bricked every jumper or passed it to the perimeter for a contested shot.  On the rare occasions he penetrated he struggled with his floater and couldn't hit that jump-stop fallaway.

I blame most of that on rust, but even in rhythm, I don't think he'll help much.  He can't play the 2, Rondo's going to play for 35 a night and House provides a better change of pace for Rondo.  Unless Doc really thinks he can get away with going small against good teams, he's not going to see the floor and he probably shouldn't.

Does anyone remember the Marbury-House tag team won us the last, like, 20 games? House was hitting every shot left and right when "The Cancer" arrived in beantown. People are being plain silly if they really think we can replace an ALL STAR caliber player who comes off the bench for us, for something better.

Marbury ain't not saint in the least, and he's done alot of unfavorable things in his basketball career, but this is the first place to actually welcome him with open arms. Marbury isn't finished yet and has a few more years left in him, lets hope one more year is in Boston.
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

I don't get this fixation and need to defend Marbury some here seem to have.

That he played very poorly while here last year I think is beyond discussion at this point. He was not anywhere near an "all star" caliber player.

I think it is pretty clear that if he wants anything more in minutes and money than what a 10-12 mpg back up should expect, we should absolutely let him walk. His past, for better or worst, is far in the past and shouldnt really be the basis for the decision.

Guys, Marbury for the right $ would be the best fit coming from the bench. Talent doesn't fade away, and the guy is fit and willing to work in the system. On defense he will be better next year because he will be more adapted to it (not that he played such bad one, at least he tried hard...unless Rondo at some points against Orlando for example). On the offensive end he will shoot more because he will have regained his confidence with training camp.

I am sure Doc and Danny want him back. The problem is if he will want to get back for such reduced role, since I am convinced he will play much better next year wherever he does it. The guy was just fried after that New York circus show during the year. He needed time and he did well here.

Here's a hypothetical.  If it would cost the same amount of money, who would you rather have as the back-up point guard: Marbury or Pruitt?  That's a big if, of course, and there are other options out there, but I think the answer should be Marbury in that forced choice.

What it comes down to is this: I suspect that it's Marbury or nothing.  If the Celtics sign Marbury, then the backup backcourt will be Marbury and House.  If not, it will be House and Tony Allen.  Both have flaws, but which one do you think is more flawed?

Excuse me but the words ALL STAR  left Marbury 3 seasons ago.   He's no allstar...He's a NO-STAR.  Plus, he wears #8 and that TICKS ME OFF ROYALLY knowing who wore that uniform before him(and comparing the two and what they did for this franchise...the former moreso than the latter).

If we are STUCK with him, can someone please tell him to change his jersey number to 88 or something?

Then lets go sign Bird and Mchale right away.

He was on a downward trend before injuries and the Knicks finally having enough caused him to miss almost two seasons.  He never bounced back, even though he played in around 30 games.
