It certainly isnt the big deal Pedro coming back was but it will be nice to see Derek Lowe back in Fenway. I hope and expect him to get a standing ovation, he had some really tough times here but they do not win in 04 if it wasnt for him. He had a very nice blog post on the return, here is a small part of it.

"I'm really looking forward to heading back to Boston to pitch this weekend.  When I think of my career pretty much all my memories are in Boston.   There were some good times in Los Angeles, especially last year when we were winning playoff games.  But I think any time you win a World Series in any city, that's where your fondest memories are going to be.

Boston is a great city and that's basically where I started my career in 1998.  When I was there I was able to do a little bit of everything, start, setup and close.  That's where I experienced all of my growing pains."

Next up Nomar will be making his return when the A's come into town July 6th-8th. He just came off the DL recently but i hope he is healthy (unlikely) during that series because it will be cool to see him in Fenway again.

Lowe chose to come for the ring ceremony in April 2005. He got one of the biggest ovations. Theo should of kept him over signing Matt Clement. I like having guys who REALLY want to play in Boston (over paid mercenaries like Renteria or David Wells)

Always liked Lowe.  Just your average joe who you'd have a beer or two or 10 at the local bar, who also just so happened to be a pretty good pitcher.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

;D

Unlike Rich Garces, with whom you'd have a sandwich or two or 10 at the local deli....

think back to the 2004 postseason. wins G3 of the alds in relief. pitches pretty well in G4 against Ny. pitches great on two days rest in game in game 7 in ny. then he wins g4 against STL, throwing 7 innings of shutout ball. he closed, he started, he did everything. a little frustrating at times, but a very good pitcher for the sox who deserves a huge ovation.

D-Lowe and Beckett pitching a couple of gems so far tonight.  I still like Lowe, and he's gotta be my all time favorite #32 for the Sox, but I hope the Red Sox can start knocking the crap out of him soon.

Beckett has been AWESOME!

2-0 Sox in the bottom of the 7th. Lowe just came out and got a nice round of applause.

EDIT: Make that 3-0 Sox.

Beckett throws a complete game shutout!  Sox win 3-0.

Nice to see D-Lowe again, and he pitched well.  Beckett just pitched EXTREMELY well.

I just seem to keep remembering Derek Lowe's crotch chop "Degeneration-X" style against the A's in Game 5 after we came back down an 0-2 hole in the playoffs.

Yeah Miguel Tejada had some roid rage moment about it, went nuts in the dugout and was near tears, was pretty funny. Those two 2 seamers Lowe threw to strike out Adam Melhuse and then Terrence Long to end that game were as good of pitches as you will ever see.

Was nice to see Lowe get the huge ovation before the game and then when he was leaving, very nice moment.

Perfect result tonight, Lowe pitches well, gets some nice ovations, and Beckett outduels him going for the CG SO.
