He'd be better than POB or Moore but I think he spends way too much time just running around trying to block shots. Doesn't seem to play smart.

Bingo. If Lakers had any brains, they should feed Gasol more. Birdman is just a weak side shot blocker. Man2Man can't guard anyone. He still better than POB & Mikki combined

I must stress the fact that his
name is ANDERSEN, not Anderson.

 ;D

It's a lost cause, buddy.

Yeah, if I knew we'd end up with Moore. But Andersen isn't the kind of first big off the bench we need. At least I'd rather sign someone actually able to play 1on1 defence.

Good point. As spectacular as he is looking at times, he is a weak side shot blocker and a garbage man. ...A really nice 2nd big off the bench.

This summer, i'd still make a big run at Sheed, McDyess, Zaza, etc.

And yes he would have been better than POB and MM.... heck Pollard would have been better with 1 leg.

I think he gives us a good shot at beating Orlando in 7..but I mean we walked into the Orlando series running on fumes. he wouldn't of helped that.

You still think with him we have all those OT's with Chicago and/or go 7 games?

He may have made a difference.

It is just to bad he didn't care enough about joining the Celtics to show up in shape for a try out.

POB was out of shape too. Andersen was rusty from 2 years off. Think Marbury times 2

POB was a mistake.  They thought they could develop a young player.

Anderson was a addict returning to the league.  He needed to be in shape and prepared to impress.

I think Anderson would have made a difference defensively.  When you're playing Brian Scalabrine who is a horrible defender, that many minutes, that has to hurt the team.  Birdman is a 6'10 big who can block shots and rebound.  It would have helped the Celtics defense a lot with KG out.  Also there were lots of times when the Celtics just did not have the FOULS to give because they lacked big men.  Birdman would have made a difference there too.  The C's beat the Bulls in under 7 with the Birdman and have a chance to beat Orlando as well.  Hack-a-Howard strategy is not possible without the fouls to give but it is when you have more competent big men to spread out the fouls amongst.  I'm not sure we could beat the Lakers without KG but who knows there's an outside shot that KG would have insisted on playing if we had made it all the way to the finals.

I don't think it would have mattered.  Sure he would have been a big body to throw out their, but our problem was finding someone to guard Lewis and Hedo, not Howard.  Only a few players can guard those guys because they're so tall and gifted with guard abilities.  Only guys like KG and Posey, among others can match up with them on the defensive end.  So I don't think Birdman would have made a difference.

Hmmm ... good point to bring up ... and I think the C's would have gone further with a healthy Powe than with Birdman on the team.

As long as the answer isn't "repeat as champions" (and I don't think it is), then I don't think it really matters that much.
