Sorry that I'm not very good with links so I hope this works, and I didn't see anything about this artical yet. Anyway, while I have on many times questioned Doc as a coach, I will never question him as a human being. He and his family sound like exceptional people.
I'm so impressed I'm even going to give him a pass tonight. Even if he put Tony Allen in again for the last few minutes I will not yell at the TV, but only for one game.

Wish I could hold my emotions back when I see "Turnover Tony" Allen walking over to the scorers table. Unfortunately I can't, lol.

I remember when Doc to the day off to go down and advocate for his eligibility.

Doc's a good egg.

I get the impression that in the rough and tumble NBA the C's are especially blessed with good guys from Wyc to Danny to Doc to players like Leon and Kendrick.  Even our supposed reformed 'bad boy', Mr. Marbury has taken an admirable stand with his affordable sneakers, etc., business.  Such good people and actions should be celebrated.

Indeed.  Guys who "get it" should be applauded.

I had the pleasure of meeting Doc once at a Marquette function.  He was gracious, affable and soft spoken.  He took the time to shake hands and talk to everyone that wanted to talk to him.  He was one of the last to leave.

I have to say I was very impressed and that dude is big - wide shoulders.

The bond between Danny and Doc has as much to do with the kind of guys they are as it does with basketball theory.

Generally agree with this statement, the Celtics do seem to have a lot of good guys.  But I think that I feel that way about a lot of teams in the NBA.

Doc, while media-friendly and seemingly nice, is still a terrible coach.  He is a decent motivator but his sub patterns, strategy, and play-calling are awful.

Also the team of "good guys" idea is another reason that Tony Allen doesn't fit in.

There are probably a hundred other threads on this site where you could choose to bash Doc's coaching.

Why pick this one?

he is also a pretty dumb guy. Doesn't know how to help his team adj during the game. Basically when we are in trouble just give it to pp bs

We have two future hof, 2 upcoming young guns in perk and rondo we can do alot better

Doc bashing??? Wait I thought we got over that when the Celtics won banner 17. I think without question he's as good as half of the head coaches in the NBA today.

Did the Celtics win the title despite Doc?

When we got hammered by injuries, did the current team throw the season away? No. We won with a team mostly populated with scrubs.

We won a freakin title less than a year ago!!! Doc might have had something to do with the chemistry of that team.

The substitutions look bad this year because we are bringing NBA flotsam  and jetsam off the bench.

Doc is a really good guy and a descent coach. Heck the most important trait a coach in the NBA can have is to know how to manage people and build chemistry. Very few can do that.
