This is not a total surprise, but still quite disheartening to hear. However, now the team has been called out by one of their own, and one whose play in these playoffs so far gives him automatic credibility. Perk has been great in this postseason. I'm glad this was said, particularly if it's on target. And Perk has never opened his mouth for something of this significance before, so there's little reason to believe it's not true.

I see these comments as yet another positive step in the growth, development, and maturation of Kendrick Perkins. His stock just gets higher and higher with me.

As for the team, we can generally tell by watching whether or not they're focused. The first half they clearly weren't. Maybe one of their peers calling them out is a good thing.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

Perk has given the most effort of any of our starters this postseason, so I'm glad he stepped up and said something.  An emotional letdown after the intensity and importance of the last few games was pretty much inevitable; however, someone needed to step up and make sure that letdown disappeared after 8 minutes instead of 28.

I think our guys frankly don't respect Orlando the way they've respected Chicago since Game 2 (1 could've been a fluke, 2 proved it was gonna be a long series).  I think it showed last night.  Our comeback may have been counterproductive in that regard, but I hope they come out for blood tomorrow night.

  • Thank you Eddie!
Perk is right, but we should cut this team a little slack.  Did anyone really expect them to come in focused in this game after a 7 game series that had two OT games, a 2OT game and a 3OT game to dominate a good team that had a little rest two days later?

I have to agree with the Kudos on Perk. The interviews Ive heard from him this year have been so sollid.. seems his heart is really in the game.

Hopefully the team can lock in for game 2.

The attitude from any team that "we can just turn it on whenever it's needed" is idiotic.  These guys need to play every game like it's game 7 or I have to question their heart.

I understand being tired and hurt, but we are not playing like champions if we are not playing every possession like it means everything.

YES!!!

We saw a focus team in the 2nd half make a big push to only fall short at the end.

IF the team had been focused from the beginging, they would never have fallen so far behind.

The leadership of the team has been very shakey in the playoffs.

KG is not there and no one has stepped into his leadership role.
