Using Starbury, reduce Pierce's need to score and we win the title

Here's how... at the moment, the C's have a bit of a rebounding hole with KG/Powe out of commission and it's a big hole. On the other shoe, Pierce is a terrific rebounder when he's not asked to carry the team's scoring load for an entire series so here's our big hope... a very tight guard rotation of House, Starbury, Ray Ray, Rondo where the scoring load is handled by the balanced guard squad as oppose to the front men for a vast majority of the plays.

Pierce, Perks, and BBD crash the boards like the way Parish/McHale/Bird did back in '84 where the Lakers couldn't get much of a board, for much of Games 5 and 7, w/o Kupchak playing some dirty tricks in the paint.

In this scenario, Starbury will have to hit his jumpers w/o hesitation because in essence, all our guards will be passers and/or scorers at will.

Well, it's a part of the dismantling of the Cav's system where in effect, PP boxes out LeBron for the board, dishes out to Marbury, and Marbury re-initiates the play. All and all, the rest of the league won't be able to adapt to it. It's too much Celtics firepower.

He can play with Rondo in there like we did in the last game. I think Doc needs to find better ways to keep Pierce fresh ingame. That means, more rest for him early in the game.

And then, we've got the boards under control with PP playing Rodman-esque defense, instead of needing to carry the team's guns during those slow quarters.

Yes, and one way is to contain his rebounding and make his game all about scoring and assists. In other words, box out on defense or 2nd opportunities, and then force him to always create a shot for himself and limit the passing lanes. We don't need to haggle the guy and get him to the line. Right now, he's a true triple-double threat and without KG/Powe mopping up all the extra boards, we're in trouble if don't use gang rebounding to stop re-tries for the Cavs. A gang rebounding frontline, a.k.a extra aggressive (Cowens/Silas-like) for every board via { Pierce, Perkins, BBD } threesome. Remember, Cowens was 6'8"; he simply outworked everyone under the boards.

Right now, the C's are emerging as the deepest backcourt of the league esp with Stephon getting his mojo back. On the other shoe, w/o Powe/KG, we can't say that about the frontline anymore so in that area, we have to compensate using strategy. The best strategy is to use the guards for an inside-penetrate but outside swing out shot bias. In other words, use all the guards as first offense weapons. Remember, Pierce was one of our best rebounders back in the pre-KG era.
