Big Baby is coming up big.  He may lack the height, but in every other way he's what you want in a PF offensively.  BB has filled in quite nicely for KG but you can see that he doesn't bring the intimidating defense that KG does.  BB deserves top backup money, but not starter money.  I really love what Powe brings but if he keeps getting injured all the time, BB might be the best choice if we have to keep only one of them.  Draft a defensive PF/C in next year's draft or a backup PG.  Neither Pruitt nor Marbury have impressed.

The only problems I have with Baby is he's not very good defensively and he's just one of those guys who makes me afraid of what might happen once he gets a big contract.  It's no secret I think that he's playing for (and earning) one right now.

I think you have to sign him, but I also think it's going to be a bit of a gamble.

It takes a little while for the young bigs to develop defensively, except perhaps with the specific skills of rebounding and shotblocking.  Powe still isn't their either, but look how Perk has finally blossomed as a defender.  BBD will continue to improve.

He hasn't turned any corner.  Chicago's defense is designed to let him shoot the ball - they use Tyrus/Joakim to double on Paul and clog the paint.  Now, to his credit, BBD destroyed the scheme last night - he was knocking down that jumper pretty consistently, and no scheme wants to give up 26 to anybody.  Still, he got his because they were willing to give up that shot - don't get any illusions that Baby will be commanding his own double-teams soon.

Good reality check Atzar.  One thing BBD has proved to me since becoming a starter is that he is no choker when someone like the Bulls give him those opportunities.  The other thing is that I am frequently surprised by how fast that man mountain can move.
