This is going to huge around here (and if it isn't we are hypocrites):

from weei.com

Report: Patriots linebacker will be part of Bonds trial

According to a report in The Los Angeles Times, Patriots linebacker Larry Izzo was named in court documents that appear to connect him to a federal case against Barry Bonds. It appears Izzo has been connected to Bonds' notorious trainer, Greg Anderson, and syringes, human growth hormone vials and documents pertaining to other athletes with connections to Anderson — including Izzo, Benito Santiago and Jason and Jeremy Giambi — are on the government's exhibits list for Bonds' March 2 trial on perjury charges

Don't expect this to be as big as when some of the other athletes were caught. Izzo is a team captain, but he's never been more than a special teamer. There are guys on every football and baseball team doing this stuff, including the Sox and Pats, so this isn't really a surprise, nor should it be to anyone who has followed baseball and football closely during the "steroid era".

I don't see a lot of people coming to his defense. It will be an issue but not huge.  Tough to be hypocritical if you don't condone it.

Yeah, it can't be worse than the Rodney Harrison situation, and I think he handled that appropriately: admit it, apologize, do your time and move on. I wonder if he'd actually get in trouble with the league if he were in a situation where he admitted steroid use in court, but never actually failed a test.

I'm sure you'll get some nitwit(s) come out and pull the old "take away their Super Bowl rings, they cheated" approach.

Boy, it does get tiresome.

Okay,
maybe I am wrong.

I would think that this would have been front page sporting news yet it's not even mentioned in either sports section.

what am I missing?

Well, I think it's ridiculous to call anyone nitwits for that. The problem here is that every team in the NFL probably had at least one player involved in this cheating. If you can show me one team that definitely had no cheaters on it, then the ring should rightfully be awarded to them.

I just don't have the morals to cheat to make millions, yet it seems that a ton of people do. It's a shame.

I actually got a return email from one of the Patriots beat writers on this and he said that they are moving very cautiously on this story as to not get anything wrong.  I do believe it will get ugly --- unfortunately.
