He said it.  He should know better.

I expect to hear an apology to the audience very soon.  There should not be a suspension or job loss.

Job loss is excessive.  How would you like it if you were fired for using a word once?  Let's say you are a white male... if you called your friend a honkey at work you should be fired?

Calm down.

Read it again.  I said There should not be a suspension or job loss.

Oh, and on a side note, I was called a honkey at work.

Of course I was a teacher and he was a white student trying to get a rise out of me (and the class).

Look I am a very busy man and I have very important things to say.  I can't be bothered to make sure they apply to what you said.

Seriously, that's my fault there I deserve some ribbing for that  ;D

Not that I'm counting, but GP and Webber accidentally said the word on tonight's NBA TV broadcast.

I guess sometimes you can get a little too comfortable with your surroundings..Although, I it did give me a little laugh seeing GP do his little dance in the chair.

If someone called me a honkey, I think I would just burst out laughing...A) the word sounds funny to me & B) i would think of the Honkey Tonk Man nailing someone with his guitar

GP and Webber are my favorite NBA duo on the air, but it sets a bad example to say that word on TV.

This is best done behind closed doors. Probably makes sense to not bring attention to it.

wow. WHAT AN AMAZING POST BY DRZA44.  seriously. that was just an awesome post. i have never considered myself a racist by any stretch of the imagination. i remember i was in a mcdonald's downtown when the o.j. verdict was announced. it was insane. all the workers(who were black) erupted in a celebration.they ignored all the customers. they were hugging and jumping up and down. i was honestly hurt by the reaction. i would never have expected it. i expected to be disgusted if it happened but never "hurt." i'm not saying i was crying or anything but there it was. these people cheering in front of me felt like disrespectfull i guess and i felt "oh my god what kind of warped f' up country is this?" we're this f'd up?"
i worked in city hall. i went back inside and at the little cafe downstairs 2 lawyers, a man and a woman walked in. the woman was crying and saying she had lost all faith in the law, people etc. the guy was comforting her and just shaking his head. he could'nt believe it.
right there .. WHAM!! i figured that's about .0000000000001 percent what it's like to be called n****er to your face,to have older relatives KILLED because of the color of their skin. can you IMAGINE being told to your face to get to the back of the bus, when in some cases you know you could actually kick that person's ass? but no, you have to take it and let some coward wuss make himself feel better by putting you down. it' just incredible that all of this occured.wicked embarassing.   sorry that rant went everywhere. i think obama's election is really gonna chnge a lot of this kind of garbage. i'm not tealking about the guy's politics. who knows if he'll be a good or bad president. i'm not calling gary a bad person at all. taht's the way the dude grew up. he should have known better but EVERYONE has done something a lot worse than a black guy saying that on the air. i bet that 10 yrs from now that will never happen. people would look back and be shocked how different we were in 2009.
