hopefully he will be fine...but his shoulder seems to be a recurring problem and he has missed games because of it.
this operation does once more raise the spectre of a celtics team without perk. for a few games they can manage because of the big 3.5 (rondo = .5)
my worry is if the celtics need to play an extended stretch of games without the perk. will it put more wear and tear on KG? will they match up as well with the teams with good center?
anyway you look at this, it aint good. but we can hope it isnt a harbinger of upcoming trouble.
my question now is... what would the celtics look like without perk for 20 - 30 games?
(1) doubtful that POB would start and be a significant contributor. but who knows? i am wrong more often than right, and we can hope for miracle. maybe POB discovers a work ethic, the celtic's style of play fits his skill set, and he flourishes pulling down 6 rbs and putting up 12 points a game. but probably not.
(2) powe starting and KG at center? maybe, but the defense would drop off wouldnt it?
(3) big baby starting and KG at center? i dont think so with an average of 2.3 fouls in 13.3 minutes of playing time.
as i look at the above 3 scenarios, none them instill a great sense of confidence in me.
perk's problem shoulder is not likely to go away. i see this as THE potential weak spot for the team this year.
i hope danny gets on the phone soon and calls more than his mom.
