The other day a friend of mine and I were talking about the merits of the members of the Monty Python Comedy team and how they've stood the tests of time.  Sadly Graham Chapman passed away and (at least in front of the camera) we haven't seen much of the Terry Jones.

So of the other four, what's your opinion?

John Cleese
I think everyone will agree that John Cleese emerged as the single most popular Python of all.

What do you think about Cleese?

Eric Idle
He too is still going strong and very creative, my guess the second most popular Python.

What do you think of Idle?

Terry Gilliam
He's directed some amazing films and has the reputation of being tough to work with.

What do you think of Gilliam?

Michael Palin
Palin's projects have up and down, his world travel program is OK, but he was a popular Python.

What do you think of Palin?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
one of the first vhs cassetts I ever owned outright (like mine, not me and my brothers, but MINE) was John Clease's 101 ways to annoy people. It was very funny.

However Monty Python in general is 70% miss, 10% hilarious and 20% funny. Honestly I think some of my friends laugh at the dvd's more because they are supposed to, rather than that they are genuinely amused.

On that note also check out "The Whitest Kids You Know"...very Monty Python. Check out the peeing on the leg sketch.

This one is very PC, and very Monty Python.

I've given them a couple of tries and haven't really been sucked in.  Maybe it's the lack of British accent.

Loved Monty Python.

If I had to choose one actor from Python, I think I'd go with John Cleese, just for being the master of keeping a straight face,
Yup

I'd have to say that Eric Idle's my favorite ex-Python.  Although it was a long time ago, his Ruttles movie was classic and he seems to show up in the most inter sting of places

I met John Cleese when he was out promoting A Fish Called Wanda in the late 80's he was a bit distant and I'd tell you what he said to me, but it would get edited out.  Very funny.

Not sure Palin has done anything worthwhile as of late, but he was very good at one point, but not so much now.
