Also, I would like to see the Sox unload Drew.  Drew just isn't delivering. He was heating up in June but then in July he slowed down and then in August he went back to being his old injured self.

Some may say I am crazy, but I would love to see them make a run at Bobby Abreu. Abreu will be a free agent and a good chance the Yanks won't resign him. He's a very good OBP guy and seems to always play. The only thing that worries me about him is his defense.

You are crazy. He's older than Drew, gets on base less than Drew and hits for less power than Drew. His defense is not just worrisome. The thought of him playing right field at Fenway is absolutely terrifying. No thanks. Especially not at the cost of a draft pick (which would go to the Yankees) in addition to money.

If you're worried about Drew's injury problems I'm surprised you would be okay with relying on Colon next season when he's pitched less than 200 innings over the last three seasons.

J.D Drew has nearly 50 point edge in OPS over our " MVP candidate" Dustin Pedroia. On top of that, he's one of the best defensive RF's in the game. I'm not trying to tear down Pedroia, but simply to put Drew's '08 performance into some perspective. When healthy, he's every bit deserving an All-Star, and a key cog in the 'Sox offense.

I think Lugo will be cut loose this offseason. The 'Sox will have to eat a significant portion of his salary, but I really can't imagine Lugo peacefully playing in a backup role for the next two years. It would just be too awkward. Maybe Detroit would take him at a reduced cost? Their payroll is pretty high and Renteria's at the end of his deal( I doubt the Tigers pick up his 11 mil '09 option).

Lugo is a sunk cost and considering that his replacement is already here and costs nothing, the Sox should have little problem paying most or all of his remaining contract so that he can hit weak grounders and make errors for another team. There probably aren't too many teams that would want him but he would actually be an upgrade for a team like the Orioles. It really doesn't matter what the Sox get in return, he's more valuable to the Sox on someone else's roster.

Pedroia has played in 29 more games than Drew.  I don't want to discount Drew, I think he's had a great year and I hope he comes back healthy.  However I think Pedroia's consistency and upholding is a key to the Sox success, and a key to his MVP campaign.  The guy absolutely deserves the title.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."
