In the fine tradition of Kapler & Kielty may we present Kotsay as our 4th outfielder.  Sounds like a good pickup.

I love Francona's quote, "...the one thing I've heard about him is that if he can walk, he'll play. I've heard that from numerous people.''  A wee bit of a slap at Drew there.
Yup

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
hopefully he can make the same arrival Kapler did. I still remember Kapler stepping on the scene, hitting the cover off the ball and cementing his place in Red Sox nation in his first week.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Anyone know his contract and if he will be a FA after this season?  Also once Drew comes back I am worried that we will have  logjam in the outfield with Crisp, Jacoby, Bay, and Drew and now Kotsay.  All 5 are starting-caliber outfielders who all play great defense IMO (so none will likely go to DH).

Also the quote from Francona makes me think Kotsay loves to play and loves to be on the field.  I wonder how he will react to not getting much burn now that he's with us.  This will also effect Crisp and Jacoby's play-time as well.  I am worried that one of our outfielders will be upset .  This could also just mean that Drew's injury is more serious than originally anticipated.
When I'm in the gym...I like to grunt when  I get my swell on... That way everyone can see how jacked and tan I am.

Drew has a back injury which you never know when it might flare up.  Plus he has an injury history.  You need insurance in case he isn't able to come back or re injures himself.  I think insurance on that is more important than a possible unhappy player.

Wasn't it reported that Drew wasn't able to walk about a week ago?  I understand his history...but you simply do not mess with a herniated disc.  If you don't rest that, it simply won't go away.

I think that could just as likely be a slap at Manny though...
