I like the scoring potential that Bonzi might bring off the bench, but I would rather give the SF minutes to JR Giddens. Giddens can score a few points for us if used properly. I think Bonzi is a negative from a team chemistry standpoint and really dont think he would be good from an attitude standpoint.

As stated before, he has had conditioning issues and chemistry issues in the past that are not easily written off like some other players. I guess anyone can change and maybe he would for a chance at a ring, but he is still redundant and we would need to make a trade. Just too many wings IMO and I dont want to give up Tony Allen, Walker or Giddens. 8)
IF we knew what we were going to get out of Giddens then I agree 100%. The problem is that you are taking an awfully big gamble on a rookie who has had chemistry problems of his own. No question If all things are equal I'd rather have him have those minutes. We know what we will get out of Bonzi though. Are you willing to risk repeating over a chance of Giddens being able to step in and play at a high level?! We did not replace Posey's role, and I'd like to have a few different options. None of the three (TA, Posey, or Bonzi) would fill it on their own, but maybe a combination of the three would. I doubt TA and Giddens will.

Bonzi is a very good bench player but I worry about both him and Tony. Two wings who can't buy a jump shot and need the ball in their hands to help offensively. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't ....

I'd rather a shooter.

We have a shooter in House. We have a slasher in TA. What we need is someone who can score consistently. Bonzi gets his scoring on the low block overpowering other 2's and 3's. This is EXACTLY what we need. A go to play on offense wahere we have a very good shot at a bucket. Sign Bonzi now and then wait on the "end of season" big later in the year. This makes huge sense! Low risk, high reward.

We do have a shooter in PP and Ray swhitching to backup the other wing

Did House sign already? i am asking honestly I dont know
is he a sure thing for us this upcoming season
hopefully he will

I can live watching a JR rookie growth if that doesnt hurt us
Posey was key in finals
he wasnt unreplaceble
only pp ray and kg were. in final terms

House signed a few weeks ago. As far as Ray and PP backing up each other, how does that work?! If they are both starting, the only way for that to happen is for either one to play the whole game, or them to increase their minutes each by 6-7 minutes pg. That has fatigue and disaster written all over it.

As far as Posey being replaceable, I agree he was. The problem is that we DIDN'T. Now we have to make due and Bonzi would be a good piece to add.

thnaks for the info on house
that give us the shooter certanly

for PP and Ray backing up each other that is waht happend half of the year
when people was asking why Ray played 40 mins a game

Ray playing the 3 and sometimes the one just too mnuch

At their age ( not over reacting or exagerating) they have to be one position players unless the missmatch demmands them in other position

thats all

I agree with what you're saying (Bonzi's value as a go-to option and it's value to the team) .... but we also only have one player off the bench who'll be in the rotation that can make a jump shot.

That's not something I'm wild about.

Why would Bonzi be cheap? The guy went straight for offensive numbers as soon as he hit the court. The reason he did that was in hopes that he could get a heftier contract. The only way he'd end up in Boston would be if he went unsigned half way through the season, then he'd settle for a title contender like Boston. Either way, looking at our roster, we still lack a true backup C and SF. Wells doesn't fit either of those roles, so let him go.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Sorry for the threadjack but their are rumors the Cavs are talking to NY about a big man.  Guess what happens if you put this in the trade machine (Szerbiak for Randolph straight up):

Cavs get another scorer up front and (can use Wallace off the bench) the Knicks get a shooter to go behind Crawford and a huge expiring contract (plus the ability to breakup the failed Randolph and Curry experiment).  This plus Mo Williams might make them MO dangerous....

Out of curiosity...  why not start a new thread?  This isn't even *tangentially* related to Bonzi Wells, or any other comment in this thread.

Yeah so..never did learn how to start a thread (it never came up until now) how bout some help there moderator?   ???

Navigate to the forum you want to go to (in this case "Trade Ideas").  You can get there by going to the "Forums" drop down menu at the top of page.  Once there, click on "New Topic" in the upper right, in the bar that says "Mark Read  |  Notify  |  New Topic  |  Post new poll"

bonzi played huge for the kings a few years ago in the playoffs and that made me a believer in him. he is a outstanding rebounder and real good at taking it to the basket .. i would love love love to sign him.

No, for the reasons stated above: not the greatest teammate, duplicates TA skills, has been declining and can't play safe (Byron Scot kept him in the doghouse during the decisive games in the playoffs).

From the remaining UFAs available to backup the 3, I'd go with Devean George: probably the best combination of defense, especially against taller forwards who will give problems to Tony Allen, outside shooting and experience.
