I dont see any of that anymore. I wasn't a Shira fan, but this sort of off-season stuff and other fluff type pieces were what she excelled at.I'd love to read anything on the C's at any time of the year. Wish the Globe and Herald would do some sort of updates about what the guys are up to in their off season, like how they are training, what they're working on, hell, even their personal lives.Throw us a bone fercrissakes.Do you really need to read stuff about the Cs 12th and 15th man in the middle of the off season? Here you go (totally made up by me):"These two guys couldn't work any harder, and I couldn't be more thrilled," said Celtics Director of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge yesterday about rookie draftees JR Giddens and Bill Walker. Walker, who is recovering from a minor knee injury is "Very far along," according to Ainge, who praised the rookie's determination. "Bill really attacks his workouts, both in the gym and the weight room. He's training with Tim Grover out in Chicago, getting ready for our training camp in late September. We expect him to be healthy and sharp," Ainge said about the unsigned second round pick, whose rights were obtained in a draft night deal with the Washington Wizards.Rookie first round pick Giddens, also unsigned, is working out in Las Vegas, according to Ainge. "J.R.'s really working his butt off out there," said Ainge. "He's really concentrating on his ball handling, shooting and conditioning, and I expect him to be in tip top shape for camp." Ainge also praised Turkish Olympic team member Semih Erden, the last pick of the 2008 draft. "Semih is really getting some great experience this summer with the Turkish team," said Ainge. "The reports we're getting are very encouraging." The young big man is expected to play next season in Europe, and isn't expected in Celtics training camp. Ainge also reported that 1997 second round pick Ben Pepper, is thriving in Australia's professional "B" league. The Celtics still own his NBA rights. Ainge had no news to report on Spanish big man Albert Miralles, whose rights the Cs obtained in the summer of 2005 in the Antoine Walker sign and trade deal with Miami.
