i mentioned it in a different forum a couple of weeks ago, but their handling of the sean taylor death was disgusting.

While he was still lying in the hospital,,just hours after being shot, D&C went on a diatribe of how "this is what happens to these gang banging players" and how Taylor learned the lesson the hard way.   Nevermind that the death turned out to no be gang related, but nevertheless noone should be criticizing a man as he lay that was just shot in his home hours before, especially without any facts
Looking for a Sig designer....obviously i will be greatful with tps.

OK, here's my one bit of celebrity "eye-spy" I have to offer (not quite witnessing Gabe Pruitt in a strip club, but it's the best I've got)...

When I was in college I interned with Channel 7 Sports.  John Dennis was the lead sports guy with Gary Gillis & Jack Edwards there (early 90's).

Here's my big scoop.

Each night before he went on air John Dennis would gargle with Scope in the news room and spit it out in the trash.

There you have it folks.  That's my dirt on John Dennis.

I always found it kind of gross (I have a thing against putting liquids in dry trash), but who was I to dispute the VIP's ritual.  Were people going to smell his breath through their TVs?  Were they going to spot a morsel of food stuck between his teeth (maybe now with HDTV, but back then I doubt it)?

OK, I have now imparted my last bit of useful information upon CelticsBlog...Can I retire now?
Yup

I understand why a lot of people might not like them - specifically Callahan.  They're very opinionated and make no secret of their republican allegiances

That's right, and that's  very fortunate for the Democrats.  People like Callahan are the reason we elected Obama. These two guys are the Bobby Jindals of Boston sports talk radio.

The ratings speak for themselves.  Other stations have tried to compete with them and failed miserably.  The fact is, WEEI knows how to appeal to a mass audience the same way crappy shows like American Idol, or Survivor do.  Its not because it is smart, or witty.  It is not well thought out.  Critics don't love it.  But the general public find it entertaining.  And that is all that matters.

And anyone who thinks it is easy to do, only needs to listen to the local guys on ESPN radio for a half an hour, and hear their cheap knock-off, and how painful it is.

Yeah, WEEI p---es people off.  But they listen.  And that is what matters.  And its not because there are not other options...because there have been plenty of other options that have all tried and failed miserably.  It is because they know how to appeal to the masses, even if it p---es off some individuals along the way.

My guess is that Mike & Mike on ESPN do quite well in Boston, even though they aren't local guys.  But yes, all of the jocks who think Fred Smerlas is right about everything listen to Dennis & Callahan.

Well i would hope you would of voted for Obama for his particular stances on important issues, but if you'd rather just pick the opposite of Callahan then to each their own...

Oh and moreover, Callahan was rather critical of Mccain's stances on a lot of issues, too.  Disagree with his stances all you want, but at least he sticks to his guns, which is more than you can say about a lot of Democrats and Rebulicans, who just run with whomever their party throws out there.

As far as Fred Smerlas goes, i think any intelligent person who listens to EEI at all understand that he's there for football and nothing more.  He probably gets the most flack out of all of the big show guys too (outside of Pete).  Show me one person who thinks "Fred Smerlas is right about everything" and i'll show you someone who doesn't listen to Dennis & Callahan.

In Callahan's case, I don't think "sticking to his guns" is an admirable quality. The guy's stubbornness surpasses just about every other media personality - he's simply unwilling to listen to anyone else's point of view. Much like the Big Show, whether it's politics or sports, Callahan consistently trashes the views of anyone who doesn't agree with him. He's also a racist (towards Asians and blacks), like someone else said he said some despicable things when Sean Taylor was murdered, and he's a homophobe.
