League sources outside of the Boston organization downplayed the likelihood of a Poeltl acquisition, pointing out that if the Spurs do deal him, the impending free agent would make more sense somewhere he is a better long-term fit. With Horford and Williams each signed through at least the 2024-25 season, Boston likely has no room to commit to Poeltl as a starter on a big, long-term contract. – via Jay King @ The Athletic

Makes sense. Feel like he would be a good fit for Toronto. Maybe Washington as well, unless they start trading major pieces.

Yes, I agree, Toronto would be interesting.  How about a 3-way deal where they get Poeltl (a great fit for them) and we somehow get Anunoby.

It is not easy, but I was able to get a reasonably realistic trade to work:

Celtics Get:    Anunoby, Achiuwa
Raptors Get:  White, Poeltl
Spurs Get:     Gallinari, Josh Jackson, and picks (From Toronto)

I know that no one wants to give up White but Anunoby and Achiuwa is pretty good return for him.  We may have to throw in a pick also.  Not suggesting this or predicting this, just showing how it might look to get Anunoby?

Unless the Raptors are planning a full rebuild, I can’t see OG going anywhere. He’s got a lot more value than White. 6’7” wing that shoots over 37% for his career from 3pt. He’s giving the Raptors 17pts, 5rebs, 2ast, 2stls per game with high level defense. Still only 25 years old, too. I could see the raptors looking to move Siakam or Vanfleet, but not to Boston.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yeah, not saying it is likely but they are getting White and Poeltl in this deal, not just White.  Anunoby is probably the best player.  They have Barnes so OG is a bit redundant.  Their team could be:

White
VanVleet
Barnes
Siakam
Poeltl

It is not like this trade blows them up.  I am agreeing though that this is unlikely at best for a lot of reasons.  I actually think Siakam would be a better fit for what we need, not that I think there is any way to get him.  The main point that was made that started this was that Poeltl is a great fit for Toronto, and I think he is.  I don't see a need for TOR to blow it up but they need to do something to change things.  As they stand, they aren't going anywhere.

That would be a killer deal for us.  Not sure SA bites though

He was available on the Fanspo trade machine but after checking, it appears that he signed a 1 year deal with Toronto in August but was released in October.  I would have to modify my trade to include Juancho Hernangomez instead (they make the same).    That extra $1.8M outgoing for Toronto is needed to make the numbers work, per the trade machine.

Josh Jackson signed a 2-year deal with Detroit in 2020, was then traded to SAC in Feb 2022.

Scal is all in for Poeltl for this season and future seasons.

https://www.audacy.com/weei/sports/celtics/brian-scalabrine-all-in-on-celtics-acquiring-jakob-poeltl

“I’m all-in on Jakob Poeltl,” Scalabrine said. “I don’t have any inside information or anything like that. Whatever is out there, I’m sure Brad will make the right move. He studies this stuff more than me. I just think moving forward -- not just this year, but in the future -- getting a guy like Jakob Poeltl, I think he would be an amazing addition to Rob Williams and Al Horford, not just for this year but moving forward. He’s that big body. He’s a really smart player. He moves the ball really well. He fills, to me, a lot of boxes. I don’t think we need help at the wing. I don’t think we need help at the guard position.

“I think even if it’s just the regular season where Rob and Al can be managed with their minutes, that Jakob Poeltl would make a huge difference. And I would hope that if they were to make a trade like that, that he would be a part of the Celtics long-term, because I just think he’s a fantastic addition. He’s the one piece that I would feel like we’re missing if we’re really talking about winning a championship. Outside of that, I’m not really high or excited about anything out there. But I would be absolutely floored if we can get a guy like that. … Jakob Poeltl checks a lot of boxes to save Rob Williams’ career, save Al Horford’s career, and prolong this window.”

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't followed the movements of Josh Jackson in a while... ;D

I've got to agree with Scal on this. Poeeltl would be a good pickup but also that Brad knows best.
