If Draymond opts in, the salaries they have on the books next year will cost the Warriors 484 million dollars.  I'm guessing they will make moves to get rid of at least 1, if not 2, of the big money contracts they have and it won't be Curry, so that leaves Klay, Dray, Wiggins, and Poole.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

I think Dray is definitely out of their future plans. Wiggins was just renewed so my guess is they’ll keep him long term? Does Poole make Klay dispensable?

I keep hearing about "cap space" and "luxury tax" and what not. Yet teams like the Los Angeles Rams and the Golden State Warriors just re-sign everyone at huge deals and sign so much talent, almost at an unfair level

There's an Athletic article that tries to answer that. I will summarize for those that don't have a sub:

  • for their tax burden to not increase, the Warriors can't increase their payroll above the $190m it currently is (which incurs a tax of $190m for a total spend of $380m). Every $1 of payroll counts as $8 because they are deep into the luxury and repeater tax. So a $5m player becomes a $40m player
  • Poole will make $3.9m and $28m in the next 2 years, which is a $24m increase on their current payroll. Wiggins' deal pays him $33.6m and $24.3m the next 2 years, which cuts $9.3m from the payroll, leaving another $14.7m they need to cut
  • Draymond can become a FA next year if he doesn't opt into his $27.6m extension. If he does, the Warriors will be $120m above where they would want to be to keep the tax burden increase neutral

It will be interesting to see what they do. Their payroll could easily exceed half a billion dollars if they decided to keep everyone.

EDIT: Moranis provided the big picture number above, the Athletic article explores some of their options, including getting rid of Draymond. Klay is probably at risk too, towards the tail end of that big contract that's paying him $40m a year.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

This is the team that turned D’Angelo Russell into Andrew Wiggins and Kuminga.  If Poole doesn’t make a leap the way they want him to, will be very easy to use him in a trade with another team for another young stud making a ton of money who might develop  better.

Hard to say what's a lot of money in the NBA anymore.

I will say, I don't think Poole ever makes an all star team.
