TT and Smart to Bulls, Lauri Markkanen and Thaddeus Young to Celtics! We may have to give up a pick or young player!
shouldn't need to include a young player.  love Thad but he's coming to the end of his career.  Markkanen hasn't progressed as much as hoped by Chicago which would be the reason they move him.
Why is Thad coming to the end of his career? He's 32 and is arguably coming off the best season in his career. Definitely best defensive and passing season, as well as his most efficient. The way he plays now with good positional defence and really good playmaking should make him age well
I'm not saying he's due to retire.  I'm saying he's only got 2-3 more years that he may be at the level he's at before he starts to show a real drop-off.  as I said, would love to get him here.  seriously under appreciated player in this league

I would happily extend him for two years at $25-30m. Think he'd be perfect here.

I think giving up a pick would be acceptable as long as its a future protected one

Here's a list of some "affordable" free agents that might be worth considering and available for <$3-5 million.

In some cases I may be underestimating ... especially wings. Those guys always get overpaid.

Bigs

Khem Birch
Dewayne Dedmon
Gorgui Dieng
Alex Len

Wings

David Nwaba
Svi Mykhailiuk
Georges Niang
Sterling Brown
Torrey Craig
Kent Bazemore
E'Twaun Moore

Guards

Raul Neto
Langston Galloway
Brad Wanamaker
TJ McConnell
Garrett Temple
nothing exciting here.   would not be surprised if all but one of the TPEs we have go unused.

I would suggest that you ready yourself for a lack of excitement.

You just said that Langford, Rob Williams, Tristan Thompson and Marcus Smart are "gone."  That's lack of excitement?  It's also a disturbing assessment of our roster IMO. Romeo and Langford both showed sufficient promise end of season and short play off run. Especially Romeo.

I would be very surprised if Brad moves Romeo after his career-best game, in an elimination game no less

In terms of adding talent, what I've predicted here (call it pessimistic, I won't argue) is certainly not exciting.

I think Rob has been exciting -- when he's been able to play. He hasn't been able to stay healthy or stay on the floor for more than 18-20 minutes even when he's healthy.  That's an issue, and I think it may make more sense for the team to sell on his potential now rather than face the dilemma of having to pay him next year.

Romeo has shown some flashes, but that's about it.  He's such a raw player offensively despite being two years into his career.  I know he's still young and he's had injuries, but I just think that Brad is going to want to reshape the supporting cast to be more experienced and polished. They don't have time for major projects anymore.  It's time to put grown up professional players around Jayson and Jaylen.

If Romeo has any value as a trade chip now while he still has two years left on his rookie deal, it would make a lot of sense for the team to include him in a trade as a sweetener to either move salary or bring back more established players.

To me the better question then " who stays and who goes" is " whats the mindset going into next season". This past season Cs tried towing the line between developing young players (Ainges prerogative) and constructing a win now roster (Stevens prerogative). When injuries and Covid hit this left Stevens with a rotation featuring young players who where not ready to contribute. Long term this may help the development of Pritchard, Nesmith, Langford and R Williams but its also a dangerous game that made 2020-2021 a lost season.

Going into next season part of me wants to see the Cs lean heavy into the youth and see where it takes them. Depending on how the lottery shakes out I would be trying to trade Smart and #16 to move up in the draft for Scottie Barnes. I would explore any available Kemba trade that benefits the Cs financially long term even if its at a loss of talent. If no trade makes sense run Kemba back and hope he can redeem himself. Fournier really comes down to if ownership is willing to pay the tax for a sub ECF team. If they are then retain him.

I also want to see the Cs bring in a young 3rd string center either via the draft, trade, or FA. R Williams is promising but his health will also be a concern. If he is healthy next season and has a great year I will be very concerned resigning him to a big contract. ( this is where I really regret the Cs not drafting Tillman)

i would really like to know the unvarnished truth regarding kemba’s knee directly from the C’s docs. as kemba stated, if he simply needs a full offseason to rehab and rest, AND it’s not a degenerative condition, his status next season dictates how brad moves forward. granted, a huge “if”.

without an unlikely monster trade, kemba returning to his pre-C’s form is the difference between a roster overhaul and 2022 being a transition year vs. a couple of tweaks (including a new offensive system) and a deep playoff run.

similar story for timelord but not nearly as critical as kemba.
