I was listening to NBA Radio on Sirius XM today and only caught part of an interview with Cedric Maxwellseems sruof the Cperhaps wanting to go after Porzingis. I know none of the details or how much validity there is to it but would he be a good fit here?

I wouldn't hate the idea of Porzingis in the offseason if other options aren't possible and Dallas is open to moving him. Same idea of using the TPE, and maybe giving up 2 future first rounders (1 being protected) could do it. Of course it could be a risk given his injuries, but I think he'd fit here really well.

Another thing, maybe I'm underrating KAT and I don't want to come across as a "hater" about him because I like him and know he's been through a lot lately with COVID. But idk, I don't really see "superstar" in him like I did in someone like AD or even a guy like Cousins 3-4 years ago. He can put up numbers but we'd definitely have to give up Brown and others to acquire him (maybe Smart too) and idk if that's really worth it for him.

Same thing with Beal. At the expense of someone like Brown I don't think he's worth it. The goal is to improve the team and build with Jaylen or Tatum ideally. Trading Jaylen for Beal really isn't upgrading the team as much and Jaylen can still improve going forward as we know.

Probably best to start a different thread if you want to talk about that.

I think if you are the Hawks you want better fits for Young. While C's get more upside athletic players.

Smart and Theis
for
Collins, Dunn and Reddish

Hawks
Young, Smart, Hunter, Theis, Capela
Rondo, Heurter, Bog, Gali, Okongu.

Celtics
Kemba, JB, JT, Collins, TL
Teague, PP, Reddish, GW, TT

Can BS get more out of Dunn and Reddish to make it a trade win?

The hawks would never do that and these are not better fits at all. Their spacing/shooting would be absolutely terrible with Theis, Capela, Smart starting.

How would you feel if the following happened:

1) We trade the Kanter TPE, R. Williams and 2-3 first-rounders for Collins right now.

2) Max given to Collins.

3) We get lucky and KAT becomes disgruntled/demands a trade and wants to follow KG’s path to Boston (so he can be the big Celtic to AD’s Laker and Embiid’s 76er...perfect rivalries lol). We then flip Collins and picks/swaps for KAT. Re-sign Theis, Ojeyele and add a ring-chasing vet who can play the 2/3.

Is this team good enough to win it all in 2021-2022:

Walker/Pritchard/Edwards or Madar
Smart/Langford/Ring-chasing vet
Brown/Nesmith/Ojeyele
Tatum/Theis/G. Williams
KAT/TT

To me, that’s like building the 2008 Big 3 when they’re in their mid 20s...can you say dynasty? Is there any way someone can convince KAT to force it? lol

If I’m Minnesota, Collins and picks/swaps for a disgruntled KAT looking for a fresh start is a pretty enticing offer, especially if I end up with the second overall pick and get Evan Mobley...

You don’t give a guy who is only averaging 18ppg and 7reb as a second option on a mediocre Hawks team a max contract.
Didn’t the Cs do this with Jaylen Brown prior to last year? Prior to that, Brown was like averaging 13 pts a game. Collins is a good player. Basically averaged a double double the last two years.

Brown was not a second option on a mediocre team. Jaylen was getting better each season, Collins numbers are down significantly this year compared to the prior two. He’s a decent player, but not worth a max contract.
JB was literally like the 3/4th option putting up 13 ppg leading to his contract. Collins is putting up statistically similar numbers to his previous two years. He’s basically right around his career averages. He’s been a 20/10 guy for basically 3/4 years in his career so far on the NBA.

Brown was a 3/4 option putting up 13ppg two years ago. Collins is a #2 option scoring 17ppg. That’s not good. His numbers are down quite a bit over the last two season and 18/7 is not 20/10. Is Tatum basically a 30/10 guy?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I love how people completely ignore fit. Sure let’s trade Williams and Smart for Collins, since he scores 18ppg and shoots 39% from 3pt. Celtics don’t need guys that play excellent D, get steals and block shots.   ::)

I disagree, first Smart has become a league avg shooter from 3 and can be primary guard defender helping Trae. Smart is also a playmaker to allow Trae more off the ball play. Three things Hawks need from the other guard spot. Second Theis has shown very good ability to play the outside big in double bigs. He does the little things that helps get open shots and doesn't complain. He is also a decent big defender. His shooting is streaky but when it's on he spreads the floor. He would work with Capela just as good as he does here with TL. Theis is a down grade from Collins but Smart is the upgrade starter they are getting.

This is utter nonsense man.

Brown was the 4th option with 10.7 FGAs, on a team with 5 guys shooting it 10+ times. Collins is the second option with 13.1 FGAs on a team 6 guys shooting it 10+ times. Collins is more efficient from 2, from 3 and from the FT line as well.

Over the last 3 seasons Collins has averaged 20/9 on 56/38/79 shooting splits. In what world is that not basically a 20/10 guy? Or are we only allowed to judge players off of one season because that suits you?

What I find odd is that nobody has really commented on the idea of moving pieces for Collins now so we can move him for KAT in a few months. If the Hawks don’t want Williams, move him for something they do want. If Collins does not get a max, so what? Just match his highest bid.

I cannot think of any other way to potentially get a third all-star in his 20s to play alongside Tatum and Brown next season. It’ll take a king’s haul of picks/swaps along with Collins, but I do think it’s the way to achieve our dream.
