Real +/- percentile rankings by year. Higher is better.  After 3 years, Randle looked like a bust. He started racking up big numbers on bad teams thereafter. This year he's made a big jump, but according to this stat, Smart has been better for 6 of 7 years.

NBA Real +/- Percentile Rank
Year Smart   Randle
2015   92%   na
2016   73%   8%
2017   59%   10%
2018   67%   46%
2019   89%   69%
2020   92%   55%
2021   85%   91%

Or list any other move that you would have made over Danny that you can prove from the site or another one.

We have not had a Good young PF in a long time. He drafts 6 foot PGs every year.

Randle is now 26. Avg 22 ppg 11 rpg 6 apg shooting .408% from three. Am I surprised no. This was easy to see coming.

I said at the time if he gets a jumpsuit he's basically unguardable. I like smart its just so much easier to draft a defensive first guard with offensive weaknesses  anywhere in the draft.

Guys like Randle you seldom see. Bad choice Danny.

We should give all our players jumpsuits! Who knew it was so ez to raise ur game. Throw away those tacky tracksuits kids, jumpsuits is where its at!!

Good point, but where were these pro-Randle posts before this year (and based on what?)

since ainge arrived as GM of the celtics, he has drafted:

2004 al jefferson, 6' 10"
2005 ryan gomes, 6' 7"
2008 Semih Erden, 7' 0"
2012 jared sullinger, 6' 9"
2012 fab melo, 7' 0"
2013 Kelly Olynyk, 6' 11" (not drafted directly by Celtics, but drafted for them.)
2016 Ante Žižić, 6' 11"
2016 jaylen brown, 6' 6"
2017 jason tatum, 6' 7"
2018 robert williams, 6' 8"

and this is a partial list.

i guess the bolded is totally incorrect and hyperbole.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

How many playoffs games has Randle helped a team win?

Why does that matter when Smart has never been a top 2 or even top 3 player on any Celtics team that won a playoff game, and he’s played in a bad Eastern Conference his whole career? In Randle’s 2 years in the East he’s averaged 21 and 10.5 on a team that this year has the same winning percentage as the Celtics, and he’s the best player on his team. Smart is maybe the 4th best Celtic.

If Smart is better than Randle, why is Smart the 4th best player on a team that isn’t any better than the team Randle is the alpha on?

Well said people want to bring up winning all the time. Guess what, put Randle on a winning team and he's a winner.

Hes on.the knicks for crying out loud with no stars at all and guess what, just as good as the celtics with three "stars"

Go check my history.  I wanted Randle since draft day. It was the no Brainer pick.

Did I say he doesn't draft players?

you only had to wait, what, 7 years to have an opportunity to say "told you so" because Randle finally has a decent year and Smart doesn't?  I'll still take Smart over Randle based on their collective body of work.

I've been saying this for years.  I stick by my guys that I wanted.

I've said for years I would have taken Jamal Murray over Brown.  Got slammed for it. Don't care.

Wanted Levert or Bobby Portis over Terry

.
This year wanted to trade all 3 firsts for Haliburton

doesn't matter who you wanted when.  each of those preferences have shown to be the lesser player over time.  Smart is still the better player based on their careers.   hopping on a brief window where Randle's having a better year doesn't mean you were right about who'd be the better player.   if this is how their careers trend for the next 4-5 years, you may have an argument to make.  half a season?  no.

I didn't really have a preference in that Brown/Murray draft.  I think Jaylen was the right choice.

for what it's worth, I wanted Portis too.  that also would have been the wrong pick over Rozier.  Lavert is a better player, when he's actually able to get on the court, though Rozier has been having a career year so far.

It does matter who I want.  I'm usually right. I'm a better drafter than Angela IMHO.

I wanted Gianni over Kelly. Which is the main point of my argument.  You draft the highest upside player almost no matter what.

Gerald green was a  good pick because his upside was thru the roof. Didn't work out.  No worries.

.it makes me so mad what Danny said after drafting Kelly. He's going to be a solid rotation player. And he went to Europe to scout giannis.

If you don't think Giannis doesn't have more upside than Kelly your a moron. Not you, Danny.

And that's the goal draft stars not role players.

 Randle higher upside than Smart.

Jamal Murray i think he's more prime time, more special than Jaylen in the big games IMO
