The toughest five players I've ever guarded by Marcus Smart

Definitely surprised that Buddy Hield isn't on this list. 
Smart can't even slow him down.

I feel like that was more a product of Brad’s “switch on everything” defensive philosophy than him actually scoring on Smart

Off-ball the Celtics don't switch that much. Switching is what you would do to guard shooters.

Trying to chase shooters around good screens is really hard. Switching neutralizes that if communication is good.

Marcus was caught giving Hield too much space off the ball, and he got burned several times. He wasn't the only one of course, but that is the weakest part of Marcus's defense. He makes lots of amazing plays, but is less impressive dealing with very good shooters who know how to create space. Some guys put up pretty impressive numbers against him.

Very true but the scheme obviously gave Boston's switch everything defense headaches with double screens both on AND off ball. Single screens and PnRs this team does well against, since Smart, Brown and Wanamaker are good at fighting through screens. But that extra screen, they had little answer for especially when done off ball to open up Hield.

No earthly idea how Hardens not on that list...I feel like he lights us up consistently. And Smart guards him a good chunk of those games.

I feel like Smart has some kind of real estate in Harden's head. Definitely has given him one of the most biggest fits on defense out of all great defenders minus Kawhi/PG.

Yeah man - I still remember a couple of years back  when Boston played Houston, and Smart completely got into Harden's head to the point where harden single underhandedly lost Houston the game as  result of multiple turnovers / offensive fouls that came directly as a result of Smart's intimidation.
