The oddest thing about this S&T is that we could end up giving the best pick in the deal, at least as reported. Very odd.

All I can think of is Danny already initiated this with Charlotte to at least help them get Rozier in a double sign/trade while trying to chase down Horford.

But even after the sign and trade didn't work with Brooklyn and Horford already chose Philly, Ainge didn't want to leave the Hornets hanging (which may have seemed like a callous thing to do) so he followed through with the move.

Like another poster mentioned, it sorta helps Ainge's reputation out in potential future dealings with other teams.

Yeah, BKN and PHI sign our top 2 players outright and tell us 'tough luck' when we ask for a small favor. Danny does the same to CHA and he ensures they are able to acquire Rozier as a replacement. I understand there might be some bad blood from BKN/PHI towards the Cs, but don't expect Danny to help them out any time soon.

Hayward is the odd man out. Brown and tatum are the future and obviously danny values kemba. Hayward will be 6th man and when his value is at its highest I think he gets traded for front court stud.

Actually, I expect that, at worst, Hayward will have the 3rd most minutes on the team (after Walker and Tatum), due to his versatility as a ball handler and facilitator.  In fact, I would not be surprised if he is 2nd on the team in scoring average, as I feel this board  overrates Jayson Tatum's offensive talents.

I'd like nothing more than to be proven wrong about Tatum, but just feel he is too indecisive to become a 20 plus PPG scorer.  If he fixes that, cool.
What happens with Hayward is entirely dependent on what version of him we see. If he is at or close to 100% I think he starts and closes games and is among the top two in mpg and ppg. That version of Hayward is clearly the second best player on the team. Of course, we may very well see a lesser version of Hayward, we have no way of being sure he will come all the way back in which case he could easily come off the bench and be a sixth man type.

How did this benefit Celtics and how was Kemba involved in this?  This Hardwood Houdini article brought me into an area i'm not familiar with.

Also the article in Hardwood Houdini was about Hayward as odd man out,his contract  and there was a reference that Hayward was was slow footed was that post injury. I thought he was hampered and that part would come back .The writer was promoting Grant Williams over Hayward at forward. That seemed like a big reach without an big upswing in Grants 3 point game and some experience against NBA opponents.

That article was garbage. Guy who wrote it is not a serious journalist.

Can't stand his opinions.  Don't waste your time clicking

After being healthy all last season and averaging about 11 points a game it's very hard to imagine Hayward making much of a scoring leap at 29 years old.  However, we can be reasonably sure he'll get plenty of minutes in which to try.  It'll be a very interesting season to watch.  You can discard all the Morris' Roziers and Kyries you want but if the real chemistry issues stemmed from force-feeding an undeserving Hayward minutes than I suspect we'll see them rear their ugly heads again.

For the love of god, please let this narrative die. Hayward played a whopping 25 mpg last year and his efficiency and counting stats increased as the season moved on. I don't really give a hoot if the young guys didn't like Hayward getting minutes. He was signed to a max contract in his prime and he needed to play for the Cs to have any chance. Also, he ABSOLUTELY deserved every minute he was 'given'.

In fact, I would say Hayward's passiveness both on the court and in the locker room was one of the problems last year. He didn't believe enough in himself early on - he should have pushed back, spoken up, and not volunteered to take a demotion.

I am hoping we see the assertive, confident Hayward that we thought we were getting. Not only will we win a ton more games, but it will prove to people just how wrong they were about this player.

And this is in the context of Brown and Rozier starting out horribly. Both were extreme negatives for the first month or so (with Rozier, longer). It's not like Hayward was playing well either, but he had a very valid excuse, unlike the two other previously mentioned player.
