On the surface it may sound like a terrible idea, but what if it was necessary to clear cap space to sign Durant? Does that change the equation?
We still wouldn't have cap space unless we let Kyrie walk and completely change Al's contract, if I'm not mistaken

It just might work if we: Change Al’s contract; rescind the rights to Theis, Wannamaker, and Morris; trade Yabusele, Williams and Ojeleye for pick(s).
Even if we did clear cap space it's a huge gamble. Why does KD want to come here and play with Tatum, Horford and that's pretty much it when he and Kyrie can mosey on over the New York.

It's just not smart management. Dumping a guy who can only get better while his value is at its lowest, one of the brightest wing prospects in the league and picks for the chance to maybe get KD, but probably not.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Well said. I am just trying to figure out a way to upgrade the team. I guess it all comes down to hoping Hayward, Tatum and Brown continue to improve if we’re losing Kyrie. Not as inspiring as a chance to retain Kyrie, Horford, Tatum and Smart while adding the best player in NBA...

I am confident Hayward will return to form. It was a broken leg, not achilles, MCL or ACL. His problems are not physical. I think he will lose some weight, work on his conditioning, put a lot of shots up to regain his shot making confidence and come back tô average 20, 5, 5 on solid shooting splits

That would still only work if Horford signed for less than $12 million in year 1, which would make absolutely no sense for him to do.

Durant is not coming here, but even if he was it would be through either him opting in and being traded, or a sign and trade (which I have a very hard time seeing GSW even consider)
I'm bitter.

It would need to be through an opt in. It would depend on whether a package of Hayward, Brown and minor picks was enticing for Golden State. If they don't like Hayward's contract then it's probably easy for them to move him for smaller contracts and a smaller tax bill.

That would still leave us with Tatum, Smart and other assets should we want to pursue AD. Though we may stand pat at that point.

Guys kill it, there is like 2% chance Durant is coming here as I don’t even see Kyrie staying so there would be no incentive. In hindsight Gordon didn’t play all that bad for somebody who couldn’t even workout in the offseason. He can only get better from here on out.

With that being said I’ll also mention that there are people on teams with far worse contracts than Gordon who provide far less production.

I don’t know why everyone is in such a hurry to win around here. It’s not like we have a group of perennial all stars entering their mid 30s. Relax.

Right people making it seem like we got 3 max players and been to the ECF 2 seasons in a row or something...

Every team has about 2 max players these days. Our streak of ECF appearances is over and it has been debated to death that the two we made were in a tempurpedic soft East.

This is not an attack against the OP.

But just in general, I feel like every time I log in here nowadays there's always some thread with us trying to just dump Hayward in a trade. And it's usually a new one every day. Just like the AD Merged Threads, maybe there should be a Hayward one too?  :P

I saw this trade on trade machine. It will never happen, but it was interesting.

None of those trades even benefit anyone...

Magic does not want to take on over 70 million in two aging players and lose Gordon. Capela on 76ers make no sense with Embiid and...

Lol. Never mind.
