Does this mean he's going to the lakers?

What would the Nets want from the Lakers?

First round picks. If the Lakers swap Russ and picks for Kyrie, that would make sense for both sides.

Westbrook for Kyrie doesn't quite work.  The nets would need to include another player.  Not a big deal.  But why would BKN do this?  Kyrie is better than Westbrook.  LAL doesn't have enough picks to even out the value.

They won't trade Kyrie.

Honestly if LAL and BKN want to swap Kyrie and Westbrook basically, go right ahead. It changes nothing and only adds to the clown show

off the cuff some Irving trades that in theory make sense

Irving for Paul, Crowder

Irving, Mills for Westbrook, the picks

Irving for Powell, Covington, Coffey

Irving for Russell

Irving for Hardaway, Bertans, 1st
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Ben Simmons should demand a trade too

But tbh, he underwent an MRI for his "knee soreness" and it wouldn't surprise me if he just takes the rest of the season off anyways. Kyrie and Simmons on the same team... hahaha

Like I constantly said, one or both of those guys will screw it up for the Nets on and/or off the court, despite Durant being there. And it's already happening.

Plus, they still have a slim chance of a title this year if Durant is full speed by playoffs. Once they pull the trigger, its over, Durant is angry and they are a ruined for years. Could they get the Lakers to peel off two more picks well out in the future? The Pelicans can already pick them clean for the next 3 years.

LA and Brooklyn would both will be empty wastelands for the second half of this decade regardless of what happens now.

Yeah, they'd essentially be punting on one of KD's last good years. I don't think Simmons and Westbrook could play together, especially with Claxton on the floor. No spacing/3pt shooting.

I don't think Kyrie's market will be great this summer. AFAIK no contender will have max cap space, not even the Lakers if they renounce Westbrook and literally everyone else on the roster besides LeBron and AD.

The question is whether Kyrie really is determined to leave at any cost or if he is leveraging here.

Lakers get Irving and Gay

Nets get Conley and Olynyk + Lakers 1st

Jazz get Westbrook + Lakers 1st

Can't see Westbrook going to Nets and also can't see Kyrie going anywhere but the Lakers.

Would any team be dumb enough to give him a 4 year $198 million extension fully guaranteed? That just seems like a recipe for disaster

In '27 & '29, though, right?

What teams are desperate enough to take him?

I’d guess both LA teams and Minnesota.  Could the Nets get another team to take on Simmons?

For instance, Gortat + Russell for Simmons + Kyrie.

Maybe the Suns? But yeah it sounds like it's just those 4 teams

Mavs could use a legit #2 but I also really don't think they are now that desperate enough for Kyrie either
