Big V isn?t with the pelicans anymore?

They said they are not going to re-sign him.

They want a rim runner at center rather than a shooter or post player. They feel Valanciunas is the wrong type of center to play with Zion Williamson. They want an athletic defender.

Atlanta is a dumpster fire! Trae Young is a very flawed player.

New Orleans have too many ball-happy shot-hungry players now with Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. Hard to keep all those guys happy.

I'd like to see them move CJ McCollum to the bench.

G: D Murray, Alvarado
G: H Jones, CJ McCollum, J Hawkins
F: B Ingram, Trey Murphy
F: Zion Williamson
C: (vacancy)

Jordan Hawkins is wasted here. Too many small guards on the bench with him, McCollum and Alvarado. They should trade CJ McCollum for a quality center. Need to shore up their depth at forward in FA to replace D Daniels & L Nance. Looks bare there.

I would kinda like to see Trey Murphy start instead of Herbert Jones. Murphy feels like a better offensive player. I'd like to have that next to D Murray.

Feels like they need to make one more trade. Ayton?

G: Scoot Henderson, CJ McCollum
G: Anfernee Simons
F: Deni Avdija, Shaedon Sharpe
F: Jerami Grant
C: Rob Williams, Donovan Clingan

Nice 8 man rotation. Three small offensive guards. Two combo forwards and a wing. Two centers. All the perimeter guys can shoot except for Scoot. McCollum as a veteran mentor for the young guys.

G: D Murray, Alvarado
G: H Jones, J Hawkins
F: B Ingram, Trey Murphy
F: Zion Williamson
C: D Ayton

Ayton would be nice for the Pelicans. Not the leader they need. But hard to see them doing any better.

It would be a dang athletic team. Lot of speed & size. Lot of length. If Ayton were a real defensive quarterback / leader / organizer, that team D could be awesome.

Wow, thought for sure they would trade Young and go in that direction....weird because they didn't get much for Murray at all....Nance??
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

He is, but when they built a team around him and that complimented him, they did make the ECF.  They never shouldnhave traded for Murray. Thst wad the mistake and they have bkw fixed that.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think their making the ECF was a fluke. The Sixers massively choked and played a fragile Knicks team in the first round. They thought they were a couple of pieces away from a championship but they weren't.

This seems like a bargain for the Pels.  Not sure how he fits in with them but relative to what Bridges cost and his talent level seems like a bargain basement deal.
Yup

The mistake is building around such a 1 dimensional player.  ATL is far from the only team doing it.  They see the flashy offensive and build your team around it. Huge mistake. Rhe c's plan of 2 way players is far superior.  I would have moved Trae and built around dm and hunter. Sga, ant, jb, jt, these are your true stars...embiid, jokic as well.  Luka, trae...if they don't play d much better they won't win.
