My vocal issues are much less about Kyrie and much more so about the fans on this blog just flat out overrating him and believing him to better than he is.  Kyrie is who he is, but he isn't a franchise player and if the fanbase recognizes that, then I will be less vocal about it.

Good post

They wanted to believe... we all did

That he was held back by Lebron

But now we know

Irving is a classic robin

The sad part is that he thinks he is batman

sure you did pal. you hated on him from the get go. congrats. don't try to change things now. we all saw your bloviations here.

Sure bud

I was ok with the trade and didnt have a problem with him in year 1

Its when he didnt show up in game 7 for a nose job...I couldnt believe my eyes

You can believe what you want but the truth is.. End of the day, this guy is no good for this program or CBS

That attempt step back on Giannis still pizzes me off...unbelievably selfish

To be honest, if literal Jesus signed with Boston, the fans here would whine and criticize him for the length of his contract.

we would then get quips like

looked like jesus

acts like judas

shoots like mary

TP for the funny comment.

Could just picture Rozier at the Last Supper drinking from Jesus's 'blood,' right before Judas nails him and gives him away to be crucified, he would be the one complaining, "Man.. Jesus you think you're so cool? I don't give a f**k! I STILL sacrificed the most!"

I think there's a contingent of C's fans that will never like him no matter what happens.

This is not true

He was on a good path in year 1

Did we ever hear him talk BS?

It was after what happened with a Kyrieless Celts squad that made the ecf

He started to act up

There were posters who railed against Kyrie from the moment the trade was announced.

yup
F%#$ Kyrie! Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!!! A complete and utter failure in every sense. I actually believe this team wins more games and might even go further without him on the team this year. 100% cancer. Addition by subtraction. If I'm Danny I don't even present an offer. The best case scenario is that he signs with the Lakers where he can continue as one of the most hated Lakers ever. They (the Lakers) would completely flounder even with Kyrie and in no way would even sniff the finals.

OMG  SMH

this is what i am talking about people. pure irrational, no perspective or objectivity. pure subjective narrative and speculation. you can criticize but you obviously had it out for him from the get go. don't be that guy

I disagree with your assessment. I was fully in Kyrie's corner and fully supported the trade at the time. What Kyrie has really proved the last 2 years, very, very clearly I might add, is that he is completely incapable of leading a team. I personally think he picked up some really childish antics from Lebron in his time there. Lastly, I haven't even criticized the many holes in his game and there are MANY! Considering what happened to Thomas it wasn't even a bad trade and I'm not gonna say it was. It was worth the gamble although it didn't pan out it only costs the Celtics a pick.

Boston sports fans have always had the same identity. You better have a thick skin, play your heart out, show no fear, and be a team first guy. Give that to the fans and they will love you forever.

If you can't, you should go somewhere else.

It has always been thus.

Or you can just be Hayward and not have to worry about any of that stuff.
I think we all know he had a one year exemption, and that's over. If he plays tentatively next year for more than a few games, he's going to get roasted too.

If Kyrie re-signs here and plays at an all-star level, will fans “rally around the family” and appreciate him for his strengths, rather than criticizing him for his faults?  Or will people brutally ride him, when he deserves it (this playoff series, lousy leadership) and when he doesn’t (pretty much his play on the court the entire regular season and first round).

I think Kyrie is a guy that needs to be embraced. Can our fans show him the love that he needs?
you've been here long enough to know that no matter what happens, this site will be full of criticism and whining about every player on the roster, any coach and any GM.

And let's be real - except for a few grouchy fans - Gordon has pretty much been encased in bubble wrap all season. No one's scrutinizing him at all. He's had a $60m hall pass so far.

I’ve always praised Kyrie when it’s due and he’s given me much to praise him for this season for sure. But he also needs to accept criticism and take responsibility if it is deserved. That’s just how it goes when you’re the face of the franchise. Take the good with the bad.

No. Fans hated pierce in 2005.  Most of us wanted him gone.  All it takes is adding KG-like Savior to rehab kyrie’s Celtic image.  If Anthony Davis can carry us to contention in the same way Garnett carried Pierce, this will all be a distant memory.

Also, the act of choosing Boston and signing here will alleviate a lot of the insecurity-based fan hate.  A lot of fans hated Kyrie because they preemptively saw him as someone who was leaving.  Him signing long term eases some of those Ray Allen-based abandonment issues Boston fans have.

He signed with us in 2014, and he faced plenty of criticism during his tenure. He's been getting criticism for his large contract in Portland, too

So, I think if things are going good, it will probably be smooth sailing with Kyrie. Without the looming threat of FA to force the media to constantly question him, Kyrie will probably be the good soldier. Normally when you are hitching yourself to a super star, you want someone who will be tough when the season is in troubled waters. However, this last season is about as bad as it can get when it comes to dysfunction. If kyrie signs a multi year deal, DA is trading for a second true star. Kyrie will fall in line.

That second star NEEDs to be a legit 1A though. I'm not convinced Kyrie is the best player on a championship level squad.
Hayward is supposed to be the 1A.  He's certainly getting paid to be one and since he has no trade value right now, he's the 1A, end of story.  Whether he'll ever be good enough to be a 1A again is another story.

Not ready to give up on CBS for one terrible year... The same concerns we had for CBS regarding the amount of talent last year could've been the same issue, I think the Hayward injury led to more minutes and immediate roles doled out.

Also..

Letting go of Kyrie is absolutely foolish. We are over the cap... Signing Kyrie as an asset to trade in the future makes more sense.
