Well, now it gets interesting. I think the top 12 guys have a leg up on the rest as prospects, either because they are much better players now while still being young, or because they're very young and show flashes of greatness and versatility.
So as things get a lot more subjective, here are my 3 choices:
#13 - John Collins
#14 - Trae Young
#15 - Wendell Carter Jr
These guys are 21, 20 and 19 and all are having / had really good years already this year. Collins seems like the clear top pick here, putting up nearly 20-10-2.5 on elite efficiency, and his teammate Trae Young is averaging 24.3 ppg, 9.3 apg, and 4.3 rpg in Feb when ATL went 6-7, almost a .500 record. ATL stopped being a punching bag, especially at home, and these guys deserve credit. IMO an elite sharpshooting and passing savant at PG is extremely valuable to a building a top team these days (Curry, Kyrie, Harden, Lillard) behind only an elite scoring 2 way wing (Lebron, Durant, Kawhi, PG13) and playing great D isn't crucial if we look around the league. I think Trae has proven to be an appealing prospect after my draft-related doubts.
I was extremely high on WCJ before this draft, hoping to trade Rozier + Morris + Sacto pick to get him (man that would've been great) and tho he got injured, he put up 10-7-2 and per 36's of 15-10-2.5 with .8 spg + 2 bpg at age 19, as the 2nd youngest rookie I believe. He's on the Horford track.
Tough to leave off Siakam, Russell and Brown, but these other 3 guys are a whole lot younger and have a ton of upside and versatility. If Bagley still goes top 10 or whatever it's clearly off potential, so to me these 3 guys should be this high if Bagley is. Why not? Try to get a franchise guy with a high pick. While very valuable, I don't think Siakam, Russell or JB become true franchise guys, but I could see 1 of my young picks getting there.
Likely Next 3:
#16 - Russell (an all star already but can he become efficient and can he thrive as a #2 on a better team?)
#17 - Siakam (he looks great, and he just learned the game, but he'll be 25 before the playoffs which is ancient for this group)
#18 - Jaylen (I think at #18 he's prolly rated low here, but I'm not sure he'll be an All Star, and I think Siakam has higher value atm)
