Last years playoff lineup would have won that game. I was hoping after last year  C's would continue to build through the draft.

I thought I was alone on this take.

Call me what you want but I'm hoping AD goes anywhere else but here or the Lakers and that Kyrie leaves. Two great players but with the charisma of an orange who don't even want to be here. I say screw both of them, gimme Jaylen and Tatum averaging 20, Williams leading the league in blocks and rebounds, and Smart making the first team all-defense while making the playoffs and keeping our picks all day.

Do you want us to actually win championships?

Nah we're building through the draft, keep developing young guys only to watch them get traded to another team or walk in their free agency and won't be winning any championships for another 22 years. It's been 11 years already since our last.

AD will be outta here in one season and Kyrie thinks he's the Lebron and that we need to please him, screw both of them. I'd rather win with players who identify themselves with the franchise. These two are clowns and injury prone, it is what it is. Keep the young guys and build an identity. We can win 50 games next season with Horford as the only vet and develop from there. This thirst to win now with these two will backfire.

Just like PG was out of OKC in one season? Or just like KG hated playing in Boston and left as quickly as he could? I'm also eager to learn how you know what Kyrie is like so intimately.

After seeing Marcus Morris’s postgame comments (I don’t see it on YouTube yet or I’d post it), my hunch is that issues are coming from Jaylen, Rozier, and potentially Tatum.  You figure things were fine last year as far as I know and then you re-insert Hayward and Kyrie.  Chris Mannix said in the postgame show that there’s a veterans vs young guys rift he’s heard a bit about.  You had Morris shoving Jalen in the huddle back on Jan. 10th, then there’s Ainge saying he had to speak with a player about being upset with trade talks (not saying that’s Brown):

https://nesn.com/2019/02/danny-ainge-reveals-he-spoke-to-one-celtics-player-discussed-in-trades/

Seems as though Brown and Rozier are p---ed about coming off the bench too, and that Hayward’s getting the minutes he is with how he’s been playing.  I mean Brown was demoted mid season.  Sounds like there’s some growing up to do and a need for a realization that things can’t always be exactly the way they want them to be.  I don’t think this will fix itself but half of them will most likely be traded for Davis in July realistically.

I don’t advocate for firing Brad Stevens whatsoever but I do think he’s having some issues controlling the kids with his passive demeanor.  Gotta hope they grow up real fast because Milwaukee, Philly and Toronto aren’t gonna wait for it.

Here's a hot take, the problem isnt the young guys. Its the veteran leadership. And look, not Hawyards fault but he can't lead as long as he generally continues ot A) Play bad and/or B) Play inconsistently while also playing more than/ in situations (crunch time) he shouldn't. Meanwhile Kyrie couldn't stop talking to the media and throwing the young guys under the bus, then he blows up at Hayward in orlando. Now Morris decides he wants to talk with the media, and altohugh he's not throwing guys under the directly, but what exactly is he accomplishing? Saying they played soft? Well DUH. Comments like this are just a form of grandstanding, of saying "Look i see what the problem is, therefore how can I be a part of that problem?" I guarantee you Morris doesn't think HE lacks toughness, so when he makes these comments he is in fact throwing his teammates under the bus. And coming from a guy who may honestly be the single most selfish player on the Celtics, its a bad look.

In short, every single Celtics player needs to stop tlaking. The veterans need to stop throwing the young guys under the bus. The young guys needs to play better (and in general they have, Jaylen, Tatum hurt us tonight but both were awesome vs the Lakers, it was the veterans that lost us that game).

This season is setting up for a terrible flame out. The chemistry just appears splintered. The playoffs start in two months, it might be too late.

Excuse my language, I had no idea.

PG didn't want to play with Lebron and KG was sold on Boston before coming here since he waived his NTC and signed an extension before gearing up to play his first game, AD will have us by the balls all season long and will most likely leave since Lebron and Rich Paul are going to be whispering in his ear. The dude signed with Klutch with an intention in mind, everything that was leaked in the media happened with his approval. He even spoke against us regarding that IT trade before.

Trading for KG and Ray put us above everybody else, with AD it's just giving us a chance to be taken seriously. We'll be on the same level of at least 4 or 5 teams for one season. Not worth it.

Welcome to the forum, here's your first Tommy Point  ;D

That's going to be the big question that Danny has to answer, can the dude be convinced to stay. Will he be like PG13 than can be won over? Or will he be a 1 year rental, like Kawhi might be in Toronto? That's why he gets paid the big bucks, to make the right decision.

I think there have to be changes to the current team regardless though. I don't think our team is big enough for everyone who currently wants to be a star in it.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I understand the comparison with PG13, but if I remember correctly, the Thunder gave Oladipo an 80 million extension which seemed really rushed at the time, and he didn't really play well with Westbrook, also Sabonnis (I love him as a player btw) never looked like a generational talent in his first year with them. What the Thunder did was avoid what was heading to be a bad contract so they had to give up a rookie with good potential but not the projection that Tatum has. The Raptors basically did the same with Kawhi, DeRozan wasn't the guy. We're really about to give up a player who has shown that he can be a first-team all NBA in the future, plus valuable assets, for a potential rental, a guy who can't even take a team with Jrue, Mirotic and Randle averaging 20/9 off the bench, to the playoffs.

I gotta admit, I've been skeptical about AD for some time now, the same with Kyrie by the way. I posted this on another forum which is basically my thoughts on this project of team that Danny is trying to put together.

We'll be risking 15 or so years of high seeding and potential dinasty over a potential single season of contention among other 4 or 5 more teams on the same level as us. I don't understand how gambling everything on 2 guys who won't put us over the edge, with an extensive history of injuries, is a smart decision.

In this sport, either you go all in to be the undisputed best (KG, Ray and Pierce at the time) or you build a foundation patiently.

The only teams that have recently won in the way Danny wants to win were the Cavs sort of, and it was a fluky win, and the Heat, and both had Lebron James. Lebron in his prime would have taken the Pelicans to the WCF a few times. The fact that AD couldn't make the playoffs with Jrue, a couple of times, is laughable. His stats are hall of fame worthy but he'll never be a Hakeem or Duncan. To me he ain't the guy. The fact that Lillard wills him team to high seedings constantly with a worse "Robin" by his side and a meh supporting cast says a lot about the impact and leadership of some players.

I'm all for contending for a title but for this formula won't work, not with Kyrie and AD, in my opinion. Both are servants.

I'm not woried about Al. We'll see a playoffs-Al when it comes. I'm woried about Stevens. He just keeps letting games slip out of his hands. Games you have to close out.

What are tommy points?
Very fair points, and honestly, the skepticism around AD is warranted. I think it's due to Alvin Gentry being arguably the worst coach in the entire league, and the consistently poor management decisions (Solomon Hill contract, trading for Omer Asik, only having 2 first round picks since 2013, etc.) but I can see why some would think it's AD putting up empty stats. I trust that he would flourish on a well-coached and well-managed team, but we won't know until it happens.

I also really dislike the idea of letting Kyrie walk for nothing and just rolling with what we've got. Unless either that Memphis pick turns into a top 5 selection, we get some steals in the upcoming draft with our numerous picks, or some of our guys develop into All-Star caliber players (Williams, Brown & Tatum, etc.) I don't think we have the foundation to win a championship. I think Kyrie gives us a much better chance to do that.

I have been happy with the recent run and happy with the last two losses. Their run forced other teams to use up assets and knock them out of any AD chances as well as future improvements. While these last two losses help worsen clippers pick which we can't get if it falls too low and with Lakers we want that pick to be as bad as possible for less AD ammo both situations help Kings pick. In the big picture things are going well.
