He could be great for Boston if he was willing to accept his role. He provides what no one on the team currently can. However, he'd have to accept sitting on the bench when Baynes is the better matchup or when Horford is at center.

Agreed - I see him as a body we can put on Cousins if we can find a way to the finals.

I'd take him and give him Theis's minutes during the playoffs.  Another big to clog up the lane and get rebounds wouldn't hurt.

He has declined some, but he's still better than an end of bench big. I think he'll end up on a team that can guarantee him a featured role: he could start on a cusp playoff team like the Wizards or Hornets. He can even be an intriguing piece in San Antonio playing next to LaMarcus Aldridge. He'd be the best center on the Lakers.

There's just other options more interesting than ours to showcase he's still worthy of a big contract.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Can't shoot 3s. Pass.

Yeah, we like our big men skulking around the perimeter and allergic to rebounds!

/sarcasm

Ainge must realize that this is not a route to a Championship.

another great move by Jerry West who is quickly turning things around with the Clippers. The same Jordan that the Clippers sent their entire crew to recruit from Dallas about 4-5 years ago is now a buyout candidate. How smart is this Jerry West guy?

No downside.

My guess is that Houston will make a strong play for him if he gets bought out.

I'd consider him.  He has good size, rebounds well and his FT shooting has improved.  Would he come here?

You can't have a team that stylistically ranges from A thru Z. Jordan is an old fashion NBA center. He is the antithesis of CBS and DA idea of a pace and space offense.

He is in decline. Also, he is owed $22.9 million. Even pro rated that is a lot of money for the second/third string center.

In addition, he doesn’t really fit with CBS offense.

He would come to us for the prorated MLE. Think Monroe last season.

I like it. It would allow Horford to play a lot more 4 and having a Jordan and Baynes to throw on an Embiid for example, is enticing.

As a big you either need to be able to stretch the floor or rim run. Jordan's rolling to the basket will draw a lot of attention from help defenders, which will generate open looks for shooters. A Irving/Jordan screen and roll with shooters like Tatum, Brown, Horford, Morris, Hayward, etc. spotting up is a pretty tough proposition for a defense.

He's a great rebounder, and we can always use one of those.

By your theory, we should have never drafted Robert Williams. Room for different styles in short spurts.

Jordan is a very selfish player in that if he’s not going to get some statistical credit on a particular play he’s not interested.  I’ve seen clips of him this year literally knocking his teammates to the floor to grab rebounds.  I’ve also seen clips of guys driving to the rim right in Jordan’s immediate area and he didn’t even bother to move his feet or raise his hands above his thighs.  For these reasons, forgetaboutit.  I’d overlook his lack of skills if I thought he was a team player.

Great rebounder, but selfish player who IS LAZY on defense!

Watched a few games due to Luka hype, and wasn't disappointed, but there were numerous times where DAJ would just sit behind, and ball watch sometimes. Especially in crucial and crunch times.

Yup. Selfish, lazy, not a team player, doesn't put enough effort into his team.

Baynes literally does everything DAJ should shoot... Except rebound as well, but half the time DAJ is stat padding rebounds.

He's also averaging the second lowest block percentage, and I remember 3 weeks ago, he was on the bottom tier of defensive rating.

I have to admit that I have not seen him play this year.  I always thought he was overrated (and overpayed) but as a buyout on a bargain contract you have to consider him.  It seems if Houston wants him, that would be a better deal for a guy already living in Texas.

For the Celtics, I think he could be coached into being productive and useful.  He is averaging 3.2 offensive rebounds per game.  Our best is Horford at 1.8 OReb.  Those can be some valuable possessions.  He may not be a starter.

I'd take him in a second. We could really use a dominant rebounder.

I wouldn't.

Where would the minutes for Baynes come in? DAJ is also a selfish player who has complained about MPG before... Horford/Baynes/Theis/DAJ, who gets shorthanded?

In a heartbeat!

Too bad Knicks claim they are keeping him and Wes as sort of mentors for the kids, that's the story so far, anyway.

I think he'd be Houston bound if he is bought out, sadly.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
