What's With The Long Breaks?

I mean I'm glad the guys are getting rest and time off. I'm also glad our schedule seems to really be easing up now and we've got a lot of home games coming up.

But after having about 3 full days off between Monday and Friday, we then play back-to-back against CLE and @MIN on Friday-Saturday, then have four full days off until next Thursday's game.

There a particular reason for this, or schedule makers just feeling generous for us?  :P

I just hope any consistency we gain from this stretch isn't hindered because of the long mini-breaks mixed in here. This is a crucial stretch IMO where we need to start racking up wins and climbing the East standings again.

No idea why it was scheduled this way, but they could use the days off for practice.

They had 3 games in four nights on the west coast, came home, had a day off then played 4 games in 6 nights, had a day off before playing 4 games in 6 days.

That's a rough, rough schedule. The C's have earned their 2 four days rests.

One extra day off (today), otherwise seems normal, IMO.

Schedulers are dealing with a lot of competing interests including new rules as well as venue availability.  I doubt this is random, every game has a reason for being where it is.

I wonder if it's good that they have all this time to think about their good game against New Orleans. I've thought they turned the corner before this season and was wrong. Maybe they can actually internalize some of the good stuff they did over these days and start playing like we know they can.

Typical crappy NBA scheduling, with 3 games in 4 nights followed by several days off followed by a back-to-back.

I think it’s just scheduling. We’ve played a number of back to backs already early in the season so it’s evening out. Also last year we had a brutal schedule till the London trip then it eased up.

What I’m hoping is they’ve actually had time to practice and Brad has had to to review film.

I try not to complain about the scheduling, as it’s got to be really difficult creating it (I know it’s computerized, but still) accounting for other arena obligations, travel situations, etc.

I mean didn’t New Orleans have a SCHEDULED back-to-back-to-back last season? And if I’m not mistake, then had another b2b right before the day off before that (so 5 in 6 nights).

The longer season allows for more off days and less back-to-backs (although don’t tell NOP that), which is good. Is it perfect, no. But it’s a lot harder to create than a football or baseball schedule.

Yeah, but there really isn't much reason to do that type of schedule for a team.  I get having road trips grouped closely together, but there should always be at least 24 hours between games when travel is involved and if they spaced the other games out better then they wouldn't be able to or need 4 days off between games either.  The NBA scheduling is just awful.

Well, the Bruins were playing at home during a bunch of the recent away games. The B's own the Garden and get first pick of dates, so C's kind of has to live with what they get. But yeah, it creates obvious times of crappy scheduling, which sucks.

Yeah that makes sense

Obviously I'm not complaining about it, just had thought it was odd that in a 10-day stretch the C's only play 3 games. But in that context I guess it makes some sense.
