...it's as simple as that.
Rozier, Tatum, and JBrown have played terrible so far this year. On both sides of the ball.
I think the training with Kobe and Tmac have gone to their heads and definitely the wrong time to train with these guys....plus two of the most inefficient players to learn from.
Smh.
There's some merit to that but I don't think that's the main reason. The main reason is in their heads. I think that after having breakout years last year, this year their reward for that improvement, because you have the return of two ball dominant players in Kyrie and Gordon, is the prospect of getting less touches, less minutes, and having to figure out how to impact the game with that reduction in opportunity. So they're forcing bad shots, missing good shots, and when it happens, it's affecting the other parts of their game, particularly the defensive end. Given their youth they don't have those layers of experience to fall back on to keep themselves level headed.
They need to accept that the roles have changed and figure out how they can adapt to it. That's really what it comes down to. It's a mental thing that manifests itself in lack of effort or too much tension and tightness due to pressure to perform. I watched some of the highlights of Burke lighting us up and I saw players not fighting through simple screens, getting burned on elementary pick and rolls and not keeping their man in front of them. Last year they had a lot to play for, there were starter spots up for grabs and there was zero pressure on them. This year there's immense pressure on them to a) live up to last year and b) live up to pre season expectations, including their own.
