It's being worded as "rest", but Jonas did hit his ankle and Hayward did seem to be bothered by it for a brief moment. I wonder if he woke up with it bothering him since Stevens did previously say he would not be rested on back to backs.

Celtics Twitter-
Gordon Hayward is OUT due to left ankle recovery.

Abby Chin-
I asked Stevens about this specifically during camp and, at the time, he indicated Hayward would play in back-to-backs. Clearly, it’s a fluid situation and team being cautious

he did play after the incident and did not appear to be in distress.

I could not care less.

If he’s missing game three of the playoffs, rather than regular season, I’ll be concerned.

No need to rush Hayward back..let him get his body ready, being off a year, it takes awhile..plus if they cant beat New York without him, then we are in trouble anyhow
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Well that will be interesting on how Toronto fares without Kawhi vs Wizards.

The Celtics will miss him, even at this point in his return from the injury, he is one of the best players we have in his ability to find a shot within in the half court offense.

He's able to find seams in the defense and then takes advantage of them because of his size, ball-handling, and passing ability threat.

Gordan plays the game of basketball with his head up looking the floor over as he makes decisions. Similar to Kyrie, Horford and even Tatum.

Even without him tonight we should win this game. I would be very disappointed if we didn't.

Butler out tonight too.  If the league won't stop the back-to-back's, the coaches will do what they feel they have to do.  Sucks if you paid $100+ a ticket to see these guys come to town, but those are the risks you take when you buy tickets.

Only the players benefit from it, still get paid for sitting out and get the extra rest. I don't mind that, though.

But it would suck if/when the league starts fining teams for doing that- it would hurt their market if players are being intentional in sitting out whereas fans would have spent hundreds of dollars to miss their favorite player on the court.

I don't mind the cautious approach at this juncture in the season.  Better to give Gordy the rest now while he's still getting into game shape, than risk injury forcing things.

Hayward is working his way back from a serious injury, what’s Butler’s and Leonard’s excuses?

Well, Leonard did have his own injury problems last year, and maybe Toronto doesn't want to push him too hard too soon, so that doesn't bother me. But there's no excuse for sitting out Butler.

Maybe Williams will be active tonight then?
