Was looking at last year's records and stats as well as the rosters compared to the East. Top 8 teams in East are pretty good in comparison to the West this year.

West vs East
1. Warriors vs C's
2. Rockets vs Raptors
3. Thunder vs 76ers
4. Blazers vs Pacers
5. Pelicans vs Bucks
6. Wolves vs Wizards
7. Jazz vs Heat
8. Spurs vs Pistons
HM. Lakers vs Bulls

I think things are a lot closer than in years past. What do you guys think?

When you break it down like that I would have to agree.  I think there are more bottom teams though than the East.

I thought that too but the West have Suns, Kings, and Mavs at their bottom worse than any East teams.

I’m not sure I agree with that.  The Mavs added Jordan and Doncic who I have high hopes for.  The Suns added good role players in Ariza and Anderson, and Ayton and hopefully a healthy Booker this year.

I think the Hawks have a chance of being the worst team along with the Kings. The Bulls, Knicks, Magic, Nets, Knicks (without Porzingas) all around the same level as Suns and Mavs IMO.

I forgot about the Hawks, they should be last. Guess when you're a bad team I suppose it's a lot harder to slot the team. Like Bulls were good for a stretch last year and Markkanen was a legit ROTY level guy for a lot of the season, they added pieces and another good draft so I got them ahead of Mavs, Suns and Kings. Suns, Mavs and Kings to me need another tank year so maybe they race for the bottom with the Hawks

I don't agree with your ordering and then making it head-to-head matchups makes it look closer than it is.  The Jazz aren't the 7th best team in the West.  They're closer to the 3rd best.
The West should have 10 or 11 good teams competing for playoff spots.  The East will be lucky to have 8.

The Suns should tank another year but they clearly are not trying to do so.  The Mavs aren't going to tank until they're out of it at the all-star break.  The Kings don't have their pick so there is absolutely no reason for them to tank.  The Magic will also be a bottom feeder.

I did an honest opinion on the standings not purpose slotting for matchups.

As for Jazz I like D Mitchell but health is an issue with Jazz so I expect it to come up again. Same with Grizz.

East has the same 10 or 11. They have Hornets and Cavs that could fight for spots

I disagree.  If you put Detroit, Hornets or Cavs in the West, nobody would think they'd have a good playoff shot.  Heck, the Heat would be lucky to make the playoffs in the West.

I don't believe that which is the reason of the thread. The West is overrated. Look at the players on those teams compared to the West 9, 10, and 11th teams they not far apart they are pretty much the same. The West hype isn't legit any more.

I don't agree with this at all. The biggest difference is that the when you are getting down after 7 in the east you are getting to some very mediocre basketball teams. The Heat are not a very good team. The Hornets and Cavs are very very mediocre also. The Lakers from Lebron alone crush any of those teams. The Nuggets who are not listed absolutely crush those teams (especially if they get anything from IT). The Grizzlies are probably even better than those teams themselves. So that is why people say the West is a blood bath, because there are a legit 10 very good teams whereas the east only really has 6-7 max.

Not sure why teams are going to go to great lengths to tank next year. The new lottery system makes it pretty irrelevant.

4 teams selected instead of 3.

Worst team: used to be 25% to get #1 pick, now 14%.
2nd worst team: used to be 19.9%, now 14%.
3rd worst team: used to be 15.6%, now 14%.
4th worst team: used to be 11.9%, now 12.5%.
5th worst team: used to be 8.8%, now 10.5%.
6th worst team: used to be 6.3%, now 9%.

Used to be the difference in getting that #1 pick was a 5.1% difference between the worst team and 2nd worst team.

Now the difference in getting the #1 pick is 5% between the worst team and the 6th worst team.

Now sure, the new system will incentivize teams that look like they will be just out if the playoffs to tank after it is clear they most likely are out of the playoffs, but for the truly bad teams, or teams that think they may as well tank all season, there is very little incentive to tank.

For that reason, given the teams at the bottom of each conference, I think the East is clearly the inferior conference. I think 7 of the worst 10 or 11 teams will come from the East. And, I think because of this the playoff teams in seedings 5-8 in the East could have more wins than the teams seeded 5-8 in the West, but actually not be as good as those West.

Denver, the Lakers, SA, NO, Utah, and Minnesota are clearly better teams than Milwaukee, Wasgington, Miami, Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago, even if their overall records might be close at the end of next season.

Nuggets are decent at time when home but on the road aren't the same team so wouldnt call them good they are medicore. And they have loses to some of those east teams even last year. Grizzlies are always hurt. Lakers may be a dumpster fire come deadline as they shed even more salary. I'm not buying on those West teams.
