Happened about a half-mile from where I live (right next to Universal Studios - fwiw, Dr. Phillips is actually considered a really nice area). After the officer was shot, there were literally about 50-75 police cars out in front of the apartment building/street where the incident occurred. They sat around all day, seemingly doing 'something'...but I guess they cared more about one of their own being shot than actually trying to help the children being held up by this lunatic.
And, I understand that he may have killed them anyway, but after ~24 hours, law enforcement still had no idea about the well-being of the children(?). With so many officers, shouldn't somebody have been close enough to hear gun shots earlier in the day when they were actually killed? Orlando doesn't have the best track record of taking action in an emergency (how many Pulse victims would have lived had they received medical care earlier?)
Incredibly sad event that couldn't have ended in a worse way. And the media was insane, just f-ing go away!As usual, guns, but the 2nd amendment is too tough to crack.
