Daniel Theis out for the season.

Marcus Smart tore his thumb.  Out Indefinitely.

Kyrie Irving injured his knee.  Out for an unknown period of time.

That's a starter gone and 2 key bench players gone.

This is on top of losing Hayward for the season.

4 players out, is there any way the Celtics can bounce back from this?

Feeling scared about our prospects all of a sudden.  We might have had a chance to make noise in the postseason without Hayward, but not when losing 3 more players from our team.

Should we give up on this season, or what can Stevens do with this significantly hobbled lineup?

We're out of all star starters. Our only healthy rotation players are 6 rookies, 1 starter

Hopefully, they don't pull a '64 Phillies with the 2 seed here.

We still play the Nets, Kings, Suns, Hawks, Bulls, Magic so hard to see us losing to those teams actively tanking (could lose to nets) even if we have just our backups and tatum and stevens.

Yes, even though it might get too close for comfort, the C's are 7 losses up with 15 to go.  That means, if Indy and/or Cleveland went undefeated, Boston would have to win 9 games to clinch the second spot.  Given that Indy/Cleveland are likely to lose at least 4 more games, the C's realistically just need 5 more wins. Just rest up and get healthy.  They can overcome the loss of Theis.

Once we're all done slitting our wrists because of our injury situation, I think I can see some positives. We will get to see how some of the backups do when they know they will have extended minutes and can let the game come to them rather than trying to impress in the 5-10 mins they usually have. Let's see who grabs their opportunity. Like pre-starter Rozier and post-starting Rozier:

Code: [Select]
Stats (Before and After Starts) Gms MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS

You can see the improvement in Terry after he was given his opportunity to start. Even if you take out the 3 games he actually started, his stats in the 13 games after those starts when he came off the bench are considerably higher than his stats in the 51 games before he started.

It was very unlikely that we were going to win the league this year without Hayward anyway. Just like when Hayward went down I was looking forward to seeing Jaylen and Jayson play more minutes, now I'd like to see how Guerschon, Semi and Monroe do when they know they will be assured more playing time. If nothing else we will find out who shouldn't be part of the team going forward.

Our season was lost 5 minutes into our first game!  We've been dreaming ever since, and just got slapped back into reality, losing Smart and Theis in one day.  Put Kyrie on the shelf for the rest of the season and buy out Horford and Hayward.  Get ready for rebuild with Kyrie, Rozier, JBrown, and JTatum.

Well my green glasses was thinking ECF or NBA finals this year WITHOUT Hayward.

Monroe is a very good addition, Morris seems to be healthy and looking good.  Theis will be missed.  Smart is a key, key player.

Rest of season I vote for resting smart (if he can play), Brown, Irving, give healthy guys limited minutes.  Playoffs are what matter not our remaining games, I don't see us dropping from #2 spot

At least credit Forsberg:
