Off the court he seems like a nice guy and good family man. I’ve got no problems with him as a person.
I don’t “hate” him as a basketball player but I’m in no way of fan of his either.
1. I find him whinny. He throws his hands up or rushes the referees all the time. I know stars get calls but he really takes it to the limit of what I can stand.
2. He speaks of himself in 3rd person. “Lebron James doesn’t foul out of a game” would be an example of what he’s said about himself. And why exactly can’t Lebron foul out I may ask? You should foul out more often but the referees that you complain about protect you every game.
3. This ones not 100% on him but the coverage of ESPN and other sports media on him makes me want to puke. They talk about him 24/7 and have anointed him as the chosen one from day one. And they shove it down your throat. The “Chosen one” tattoo isn’t help much on his part.
4. I don’t think he’s as good as people say he is. Oh, he’s great and could play in any era. But he’s not a better passer then Bird even if tv people want to keep saying that. He’s not on the same level as MJ even if ESPN keeps beating that drum. I get sick of the hype. As with #3 this isn’t all his fault but I can’t help but pin some of it on him.
5. The Decision. This was it for me. I can look past everything about him that kind of bothers me but I’ll never look past this one. That was the most arrogant, self absorbed junk I’ve seen in a long time. Actually, I refused to watch it live but have seen it online afterwards. People act like because he’s good or won championships that ‘The Decision” should be forgotten. I’m sorry, putting ball in the basket won’t make me forget you did a punk thing.
Now I had no problem with him going to Miami. He was a free agent and could go anyplace he wanted. But the TV show about it? Sorry but I can’t look past that.
