I was always worried that Jaylen could reach a point a become bored-he wants to be involved with players union and before a home game spoke at Harvard School of Government.
Bill Bradley was a Princeton Grad and Rhodes scholar -that later went on to be a senator
So we have some driven players that are honing their craft and their future
Rozier has made big strides with his dribbling -Is Kyrie's style something the players are emulating?
These guys landed with the best organization and the right city

He's what, 20 years old? Self-promotion through social media et al has been with him his whole life. It's not an add-on, like it is for us 45 year-olds, but rather, just a part of him (and the generation). Nothing bad.

Who's growth should he be focused on? I mean he seems to be focused on getting better each game. I don't see him being selfish or not a team player. I enjoy the windmill dunks.
As for social media, that's the way things are now. I have heard nothing about him being a problem in the locker room, to team mates, around the city.
I'm really happy with his development and the way he's playing. I could easily see him being and all-star in the next year or so.
Sure he needs some work on his handle and could improve his passing/assist numbers, bet he's young and only 15 games into his second year.

We traded away our primary, secondary and tertiary scoring options from last season and lost our secondary/primary option for the current season... he better step up as a scorer because somebody has to take the shot... if he doesn't, Smart definitely will...

After seeing the last two games I don't see how anyone can come to the conclusion that Brown is concentrating to much on himself to the detriment of the team.

He has played tremendous defense. His work on Derozan was great even if Derozan upfaked him a couple of times into a foul. He was a +23 last night, highest on the team.

Then in the past two games he has driven multiple times and either passed it out to a shooter or tried to because his shot wasn't there. That's quality growth. His instant pass to Tatum for the alley oop last night was incredible and shows he is seeing the floor better and not being selfish.

I love what Brown is doing this year.

The flip-side is someone posting "Why is Jaylen not being aggressive enough?"

I'll take having to read this post, and I look forward to more windmill dunks.

I love the temperament, attitude, confidence, team-play and work ethic of this team. I see no evidence of any players being selfish or me first attitudes. I know Brad would see it if it was true and he would have a talking to with Jaylen.

Looks good to me. No problem with him. Thanks Ob... Danny!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

What is this even a topic is beyond me.  If a player isn't focused on his own growth and development then he shouldn't be in the league!

This is silly to me.  Jaylen is improving by leaps and bounds from last year.  His defense keeps improving.  He is aggressive going to the basket.  His rebounding has improved.  Keep focusing on your own growth Jaylen, because it helps our team, a LOT.

We've officially reached the "good team problems" phase of a fandom.

We just have nothing to complain about cause the team is winning. So fans have to find something. Even things that don't exist.

What a difference a year makes. Last year our scoring options were IT, Bradley, Crowder, Kelly (not to mention AH, MS, JB, TR who are all still here and besides Al wasn't looked at as a real scoring option).  Three smaller than average players at their position and one 7ft who was afraid to shoot...Who besides IT and AB wasn't cringe worthy when it came crunch time?

I don't see anything wrong with any of that. The windmill dunks gets a rise from his teammates. We don't see much of anything from him that we could construe as selfish. He takes the occasional bad shot, but not nearly as many as Kyrie or Smart. Of course, almost every shot Smart takes is a bad shot.

JB's only 21. He's showing maturity, and his game has grown by leaps and bounds in just one year. From raw rookie to 15/7, consistent play, and playing great D.

And Tatum is still only 19. Talk about unselfish. How many bad shots does Tatum take? He almost never does.

I would be ok if our 21-year-old recent top 3 pick ONLY focused on his own growth.  I don't think he can focus too much on it.

I obviously like what I see, but I sense a "me first" mentality from him. The windmill dunks, the post-game interviews, the trying to raise his social profile.

It's all good and the Celtics are the beneficiary of this development but there is a line that can be crossed which can cause some internal dissension on a team when a guy has such a high level of personal aspiration.

I disagree with this on every level.

Jaylen is the dude who tends to defer too much.  He often stands in the corner, the ball doesn't swing to him on offense quite often, but never complains.

He is the guy who is more than willing to make the extra pass.  Look at the break at the end of the game last night, when Kyrie passed to Jaylen. He touch passed it to set up the alley oop dunk for Jayson Tatum.  Now rewind a few plays earlier, when Jayson Tatum stole the ball, and tried to force it in on two guys, when, if he had been more team oriented, he would have been able to drop it back to Jaylen Brown for an easier opportunity. I'm not intending to knock JT, he is a rook, and I like his attack personality. But to say that Jaylen is too focused on his own growth--i.e., that he is selfish--is completely off base.
