Hard to get too excited about that.  I really like him coming out of college but wow.  After 5 years, his high water mark is 5 pts and 5 rebs.    Just shows you what a crap shoot even a top 5 draft pick can be.  5 seems to be his number, they should give him #5.

Worth a look though of course.  Maybe at 26, he will turn the corner.

in 11 MPG, and actually his high marks are 8 & 9 in 18 MPG

Sort of, the 8.8 and 7.7 was in 22 games in Philly before being traded to Portland where he put up 3.6 and 4.2 in 32 games for a season average of 5.7 and 5.6.  So yes, his high water mark for a season is slightly better than 5 and 5.

I am being snarky, I know, I think it is a good idea to work him out and maybe even sign him but he is a career 4.9 pts and 4.8 rebs through 5 pretty consistent seasons.  We could use 10-15 minutes from a reliable big.  Not sure what you learn from a workout that you don't already know from 5 seasons but I am all for bringing him in.

That is not going to happen, I would say "that ship has sailed" but that would be inaccurate " that ship has sunk".

He works at KFC

Thank you for that visual. Now every time I see a KFC commercial, I'm going to picture him as the Colonel. $5 Fill Ups...finger lickin', finger lickin', finger lickin', finger lickin', finger lickin'. And that's just his lunch break.

I personally, did not like TRob coming out of college. I saw him as very, very, overrated. Turns out he's about what I thought he was going to be, a roleplayer who doesn't give you much more than rebounding. He'd be fine as the C's 3rd or 4th big, but 5/5 in 15 minutes would make me happy with him.

He's an incredibly smooth athlete. If Stevens can teach him how to play defense he could be valuable switching around on the defensive end and, obviously, rebounding.

Like it. Good rebounder and would fill that role well
i suppose, but how many rebounds do we think he will get in his 13 minutes a night? and how many of those will be in the close of close games?

just deep, deep bench depth. nice signing, but not excited.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think this is one of those signing of "what can we lose"

At worst he's at the end of the bench playing garbage time . At best he  shows flashes of his college days

Unlike the other garbage teams that he played for, he has no pressure to "be the alpha top 5 pick leader" he can just  play. Change of scenery and good coaching should help him

Not that you should be excited about the 15th guy on the roster but I think this type of signing is important because of those nights when the Celtics are getting eaten alive but mediocre basketball players like Tristan Thompson because they can't get a rebound, they would have an additional option (beside Baynes, the only other good rebounder on the team) to throw on the court and tilt things back in their favor.

It's the not 13 minutes a night, it's the 5-6 games in which he plays 25 minutes and makes a difference.

The Celtics definitely need someone that can come in and get control of the boards. Bogut is hurt too often.

I liked Thomas Robinson once upon a time, but given that he's failed to catch on with the Nets or the Lakers, I have to think he's either hopeless on defense / learning plays, or he's a locker room problem.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Low risk signing of a very serviceable young player who's major strength, rebounding, happens to be this teams biggest weakness.

It would be a good signing.  Kid plays hard every second he is on the floor and if he gets minutes, I guarantee he will have the best season of his pro career (the Brad Stevens effect).

Really like him!

6'10" / 240 pounds / 7'3" wingspan / 8'10" standing reach / 35.5" max vertical

Physical specimen of a player who always had so much upside, never realised it.  But he's always been an elite rebounder and great hustle guy.  Scores relatively efficiently at the basket, gets to the line well (though doesn't shoot well there).  Would being legitimate size and toughness to our front line, and that's something that I think we desperately need right now.

Inconsistent shooter and very foul prone - but as a young, long and athletic guy who can bring rebounding and hustle for vet min money, I'd be happy with that.

With Morris, Horford, Robinson and Baynes on the roster I would finally feel somewhat comfortable about out depth up front - which is the thing I've been most worried about thus far.
