And I don't know what national sites people are going to, but the reaction I've seen is generally positive for the Celts. Pelton on ESPN gave the Celtics a B+ and the Pistons a D. Generally, uninformed media types who don't follow basketball closely are just looking at this deal from the narrative of, "this was about clearing salary so the desperate Celts had to make a bad deal." This WAS about clearing salary, but more about the fact Bradley is gone next year.
...
Mark Morgan on Sirius NBA Radio, and of course Skip Bayless, to name two.

We retained Crowders valuable contract fro future trade
AB had to traded , wasn 't getting what he wanted pay wise or deservedfrom the Celtics
Smart and Rozier younger and retained
Morris helps the PF spot
AB miss about as many games as he plays ,  injury prone and poor handle, passing ugh.
Clears out room for Smart and Rozier to play more.
AB is undersized , already have IT
Pistons maybe in for a rental ......if AB stays healthy long enough to get a brinks truck.
Losing AB , KO ...for Morris and Hayward   ...we win.

Danny did the right thing overall.

I don't mind Morgan, but Bayless can pound salt.

im torn, because on one hand I love bradley, think we would be better with him THIS YEAR and think he has been the consumate celtic player.

on the other hand, I get Ainge's thinking. Bradley is not getting paid by the celtics after next year. and is walking for nothing.

Also, Bradley is a stop-gap player. We arent winning a championship with him as our 2 guard. with all the talk of Jaylen being able to play the two. you have to think this is a move to give Brown more playing time. we NEED brown/Tatum to develop in order to actually contend for titles

People around here are pretty dead set on calling him a PF, huh? I get that we play in an atypical system designed by the mastermind (sarcasm) CBS that eliminates the need for positions, but regardless of we try to spin it, this was a trade for a wing player and we already have plenty of those. Morris might even be a worse option at the 4 than Crowder due to Crowder's superior rebounding.

If we're talking about this trade on a strictly basketball level, I don't understand how people can be that excited about this. We traded one of our only starting caliber players for a nice reserve/replacement level starter. One that happens to play the same position as half of our roster.

Ainge HAS to have another move planned to add not 1, BUT 2 more PF/C, even if one is purely just off the bench.

Can't just rely on Zizic and Theis to come in and save the day every game...

This team is one Horford injury away from being screwed.

HAHA so I start the vacation trip with AB being traded to DETROIT for Marcus Morris.

Now today I'm on the road RETURNING from the trip and we signed former DETROIT center Aron Baynes.

What a weekend all around  :P
