When considering that Morris soon goes on trial for felony aggravated assault and will likely miss the upcoming NBA season the moves ostensibly netted Gordon Hayward.
Is that what the talking points are under the bridge these days?

 ;D ;D ;D

People like yourself seem to be pretty ignorant of this situation so here's some links to check out.

Just so we're clear a felony is a crime punishable by more than a 1 year jail sentence.

Are you really this unfamiliar with sentencing and outcomes of criminal trials?

First off, neither one of your links suggests he would get suspended for a year by the league. Neither one even mentions him getting suspended for a game.

Secondly, it would be extremely unusual and bizarre for someone would get the book thrown out at them for what would be his first ever conviction for a crime (he got in a fight in 2012 with a bar owner but entered a diversion program and paid 300 dollars, not exactly a murder).

Thirdly, NBA players or professional athletes very rarely ever get the worst possible penalty thrown at them. Ty Lawson got like 4 DUI's, DUI's while speeding, DUI's on probation for other DUI's that would have landed any normal person in jail repeatedly for long stays and would have suspended his license forever. Lawson got a few two and 3 game suspensions from the league.

I don't really get your chicken little routine on this, but it doesn't jive with any reality for these kinds of situations in general or the present one.

The Celtics had to give up Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk and Tyler Zeller and a second round pick to make room for Gordon Hayward and Marcus Morris

When considering that Morris soon goes on trial for felony aggravated assault and will likely miss the upcoming NBA season the moves ostensibly netted Gordon Hayward.

This is not markedly different than the value given up for stars Jimmy Butler and Paul George

Jimmy Butler was traded for a 2017 first round pick swap, Zach Lavine, and Kriss Dunn
Paul George was traded for Oladipo, and Sabonis

Of the three (George, Butler, and Hayward) Butler had the highest PER and WS last season while also totaling the highest number of points, assists, steals, blocks, and A/To ratio, he was also the only player of the three to make an All-NBA team last season.  Hayward is the only one of the three not to have made an all-NBA, or all defensive team in his career.

Contracts:
George is signed for 1 year at 18 million while OKC also acquired his Bird Rights.
Butler is signed for 3 more years starting at 17.5 million per and escalating 1 million each season thereafter- the third year being a player option at 19.5 million
Hayward is signed for 3 years at 30 million per year.

Did the Celtics really end up with the best player?  Did they end up with the best deal?

Here is a clip from Collin Cowherd's show discussing this
https://youtu.be/m93i2lWqM0I

I agree, regardless of Morris can play or not, Hayward isn't as "free" a agent as people thought, I guess Angie's plan is to get Hayward to commit first then grab one of Butler and George, but he didn't expect George and Butler are both gone so fast.

Hayward better be really really good next season.

Just so we're clear a felony is a crime punishable by more than a 1 year jail sentence.

And misdemeanors are punishable by up to 364 days. Is it "likely" that somebody committing a misdemeanor will do jail time?

I'm surprised it's so controversial to suggest that two men who initiated and participated in the gang beating of a man attempting to run away from them will go to jail...

Here's a link that cites the police report

http://www.nba.com/2015/news/04/08/suns-morris-twins-accused-of-beating-former-mentor.ap/

They had a man held down on the ground while they kicked him...  He had to go to the hospital and suffered a fractured nose among other injuries.   Witnesses positively identified the Morris brothers.

And the trial is next month...

Seems pretty likely to me that a judge and jury will look unfavorably on two giant men who - with three of their friends - held a youth basketball coach on the ground and proceeded to kick him in the face and lie to police about it.

I love you telling a lawyer how the court system operates and what judges think. Bravo on that

Sure. So the Celtics traded Bradley, Olynyk, and a second round pick for Hayward and Morris. How is that?

Omg dude, your thread is totally ruined because of that preposterous statement about jail time - that is all anybody is going to discuss now.

Leaving that part out, I understand where you are coming from, but don't agree. You win with stars in this league and we just added a bonafide one. AB and KO are nice players who will certainly be missed, but the gain in Hayward and to some extent, Morris, can't be understated.

We will definitely be a better team next year and the pressure on IT will be alleviated.

I'm sure Roy has a ton of preconceived notions about how trials like this one turn out. I wonder why...

You realize the lawyer I am referencing is Roy and not myself? I don't even remember what kind of lawyer Roy is but he is provided a lot of information on the court system and trials over the years. You are coming in here with what exactly to argue with him?

Allegations. The word you're looking for is "allegations". People who assume allegations are facts are generally the ones operating on preconceived notions.

And, beyond hearsay, nobody on this board knows the strength of the State's case or the likelihood of a plea deal.
