I knew this day was coming, but sooner than expected and the return pretty underwhelming.

I am legit sad to see Bradley go though. He has embodied the best quakities associated with the Celtics throughout his entire career. Developed himself into a very good player and a great teammate. I hope he leaves feeling appreciated.

I love Bradley. I'm going to miss him. But I understand why it had to be done. I'll just take the heartache of watching him play on another team this summer rather than wait for him to leave next summer.

We move on.

I loved how Avery improved every year, showed the work effort and was a leader as he got "older".  If he was 6'5" this wouldn't be happening.  Wish him well.  Sad to see such a great guy, good player, GREAT defender and longest tenured Celtic be traded.
But I still voted love for trade.  Think of how many swing men or shooting guards on team.  Now look at our power forward position.  Kelly gone, Amir gone, none of the rookies ready to start.  That means as of yesterday (if not traded) Jae Crowder would have been our starting pf.  We traded a Bradley who was in last year of contract and we couldn't afford next year.  We cleared $$ to sign Heyword.  We got a starting pf in the deal.  I'm happy.

mixed.  accepted the idea that one of Crowder, Smart or AB would end up getting traded.  was hoping it was Crowder.  should have gotten more for him though.  can't believe we had to add a pick too

I am not in the camp that 2 years of Morris is better than 1 year of Avery.

I thought he would give a sizeable discount to play with Boston his whole career, and even if not, I believe AB playing out his current contract, with no return would have been preferable to this trade return.  Our title chances this year, while small, took a hit with this trade.  With Avery, we gave GS fits.  Why not just keep him, and let him go get his money next year?

I was hoping Crowder was the one traded, contract notwithstanding.   He regressed last year.

Don't necessarily hate it, but I certainly don't like it.

- Didn't want us to trade Bradley
- M. Morris and Horford may be the worst rebounding duo (PF-C) in the league
- It's higly likely KCP ends up in Brooklyn which hurts our Brooklyn 2018 pick (perhaps the most valuable asset we have right now)
- I know it's not a big deal, but why on earth did we give the Pistons a second rounder? I mean, Bradley for M. Morris straight up would have been bad enough.

I think it's pretty safe to say we 've lost the trade. For what it's worth, most Pistons fans believe we got fleeced.

As I've said these last days, after signing Hayward with no cap space, we had ZERO leverage in trades. People held the opposite, but it was clear we had to make a deal soon and that's why the Jazz wanted to receive Crowder with no assets in compensation.

So we had to make the first "just bad" trade around there.
- We all knew the C's wanted to sign Hayward and they needed max cap space to do so.
- We all knew IT, AB and Smart are entering the final year of their contract.
- We all knew the C's couldn't just resign all 3 of them.

Danny should have planned ahead. Apparently he did not, therefore we ended up having absolutely no leverage in trades. That's Danny's fault. Worst case scenario, we should have traded one of Smart-AB on draft night (by then we knew that the cap projection had been reduced to $99 million). I bet we would have gotten a far better return than Morris.

Depends on the future pick. Morris is a win now option on a rookie scale-like contract. I don't think teams were lined up to give us a lottery pick for an expiring AB.

I also hope Tatum (and Brown) get lots of playing time...but I want them to earn it. There is so much promise between them.
A year ago, George Hill got traded for #12. Ibaka got traded for #11 (Sabonis) + two other assets. Both Hill and Ibaka were expirings. Again, if Danny had planned ahead, I bet we would have gotten a far better return than Morris.

mixed...I complained about him at times, but he was valuable and a hard worker.

I'm optimistic about Morris, when compared to Amir and KO. We still may need another big, unless we're surprised by someone on the current roster.

No one really "loves it" but you almost certainly couldn't sign him again.

And giving it more thought Bradley at x amount of a contract compared to smart and rozier who both play very good defense and bring different things.  Rozier could step up quite a bit.

I absolutely love it given the context. AB was leaving next year anyways, and Morris is a really good fit in our system. I honestly (realistically) couldn't be happier at this point.

People need to turn their frowns upside down and realize the team is going to be great next year (i wouldn't be surprised if they were close to 60 wins), and excellent in the long term. The Celtics are going to play a great brand of basketball that is currently the most effective style in the NBA.
So here's my hot take: if this team plans to start Morris at PF, they will win fewer games next season than they did last season.

Man, Koz, even for you this is exceedingly pessimistic. There's almost no way, barring catastrophic injuries, that this happens.

1) Significantly weaker East
2) Top-3-5 starting lineup in the league
3) Deepest team in the league with significantly more talent than last year

This is a 60+ win next season.

If the team is good enough on offense you can phone it in on rebounding.  Celtics have already been doing this and may be doing it a bit more now, but guess who else does it?  The Warriors team everyone is saying they want to be like.

They still have money to spend and have Theis, Zizic, and Yab to play some rotation minutes.

I thought someone reported that Boston was trying to gauge interest in Bradley and Crowder during the draft. I can't find a link tho.

highly unlikely due to the shiftiness of the Eastern conference.

People have been predictingg the Celtics would regress every year since we snuck into the playoffs at 40-42.

Maybe this year's the year they are right. I tend to doubt it.

Barring injuries this is a 60 win team....
Given that we're already injured, I'm not sure how you're "barring injuries".

I don't think offseason injuries count until they become in season injuries...

I hate it because AB. Hold over from the big 3. Mostly emotional attachment.

I love it because we got something for a guy we were not going to pay next summer. MM isn't Milsap or Griffen or even Hortford but he is a big and pre-trade we didn't really have any of those outside Hortford.

I voted love just because the positives outweigh the negatives (emotional). Everyone knew we sellers on Smart/Crowder/AB so we were never going to get a Butler/George type.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.
