CBS ...has powers ......he talked him into Butler

maybe he can do the same with Boston ?

Now how ironic would it have been if the Celtics had TRADED for J. Butler a few days ago

CBS: "Hey Gordon, this time, I brought Butler to you... on this team!"

Don't think it's likely, but it would really be a serious gut punch if Hayward actually chose to sign with Miami...

Lol yeah it would be. I would probably give up hopes of landing a star at that point and hope they build through draft.

So... we already have the meeting with Hayward on Sunday.

Does that still mean CBS calls him tonight at 12:00:01 AM?

Would that mean Ainge calls Griffin?

It is likely though, they're only one of 3 teams to get a meeting.

But out of the 3 teams, what odds do you give of him going to Miami?

Seems like the odds are higher he either stays in Utah OR goes Boston.

I'd say the the 3 teams are at even odds.

I think people are vastly underestimating the Miami threat. There's something about Miami that Gordon likes, hence the meeting. They have Dragic and Whiteside, they've got a terrific coach in Spoelstra and they've put together a championship squad rather recently. Pat Riley's ability to sell should be respected - he did orchestrate one of the biggest free agent coups in recent memory. People really think he can't convince Gordon? For real?

I kind of doubt they are even. It's more Utah > Boston > Miami IMHO.

Riley can sell, no doubt, but my question is, how else can the Heat improve the team besides adding Hayward and keeping one of Waiters/Johnson (no guarantee they both stay).

Only reason Hayward would leave Utah in the West is primarily because he sees the East as an easier conference, and in that case, Boston is the better team that still has lottery picks coming, and POSSIBLY a chance at George (or if not, again, future lottery picks or the ability to trade at the deadline next year or next summer).

They have some nice pieces in Winslow, Richardson, Adebayo (not to mention McGruder and White).  Frankly if the Lakers and Celtics continue to not offer much for George a package around those young guys might actually get them George and they have Ellington's partially guaranteed contract for salary filler.

I slept on it and gave it thought. I believe one of the teams isn't in play and is being used as leverage for negotiations (goal being max contract + bonuses). I think the heat is the team he has little interest in but is using as an extra leverage in negotiations

You can easily make the argument that it's Boston being 'played' here.  Miami went 31-11 in the 2nd half and Blake fits perfectly with Whiteside, Dragic and a bunch of nice young players.  Frankly, Blake seems like a South Beach kind of guy too.

So, tell me your dreams.

You can't have bonuses on top of a max contract.  He has no need of leverage because he would have received a max contract regardless.  He's meeting with these three teams because he is interested in them.

They did that on the backs of dion Waiters as much as anyone else and it's my understanding (could be wrong) that they can't retain him if they sign Hayward.

What Miami did this year is not unlike what boston did 2 years ago.

Boston is a better team with a brighter future and while Spo might be a great coach, bostons got the advantage in that area too. If he goes to Miami it's because of the Miami, not the Heat.
