Let's assume the core next year is:

Horford / Zizic
George
Hayward / Tatum
Brown / Smart
Thomas

Do we have a puncher's chance if the Warriors lose Iggy?

ZaZa?
Green / West?
Durant
Thompson
Curry / Livingston?

Asking a lot from Tatum Brown and Zizic. Also would need Smart to make a leap and you'd need to get some high quality ring chasers but I think you'd beat Cle and would have a shot at beating GSW.

Yes.  Favorites, no.  Better than Cleveland a chance of beating GS, yes.  And we would still have a bright long term future.

I think they'd have a chance, but they'd be a clear underdog.

Probably about zero, unfortunately.

Yes -- and if GSW loses Iggy, Boston figures to have better depth. That depth might even make Boston the favourite in a series against GSW.

I am not sure how legitimate it is, but it looks like you can trade Smart and Crowder for picks, then sign Hayward, then s&t KO plus those picks/additional picks for George.

We definitely would have a punchers chance. I would feel a lot better if we somehow had a way to keep Bradley though. We really need him for that matchup. Smart on his own as a guard defender will foul out. I am also not convinced that the Dubs can keep Livingston and I am not sure how much David West will have at 37 if he does not retire.

Defensively that team has holes everywhere and is far inferior to G.S..  The youth the C's would be counting on also would be a major problem.  Not remotely worth dumping half the roster for.

Pretty even or slight underdogs however we have 2 or 3 or 4 lol X factors that could push us as the slight favorites such as Brown taking a big leap his second year, will Tatum or Zizic for that matter be very productive rookies, will Smart ever learn to shoot better lol?

We basically know what the Warriors are even if they lose Iggy. Us with young guys it's really the X factor that could swing it our way. Tough to go against Durant and Curry though.

Problem with this is why would Indiana prefer Kelly Ollynk on a contract big enough to trade for George over the cost controlled Jae Crowder who is a better player, especially since they already have Myles Turner? It makes sense for the Celtics, but not the Pacers.
