I didn't find anything negative in the way he said that.

If Fultz wants playing time, then he better play defense the right way. Jaylen learned that if you can't rotate correctly, you will be buried in the bench even if you're a good scorer.

nothing wrong with this. Brown and Fultz actually had very similar defensive questions coming out of school.

Brown is right. Fultz has shown his offensive talent, but has yet to show the world his defensive talents. He has the tools to be an excellent defender, but he has to actually do it.

Brown has experienced this first hand as a Celtics rookie, and the fact that he said this shows he got the message himself.

Jaylen pointing out that he himself has earned playing time by hard work on the defensive end.
....thread title lacks accuracy and or understanding.  Felger-like thread title, I might add.

This was the front page article on the blog a day or two ago.

JB says he has super talent offensively, and OP picks up the comment where he says he's interested to see what he can do defensively as questioning him....

This is old news and making something out of nothing. ALL rookies need to work on their NBA defense.

Great thing to hear from a guy just finishing his rookie year and it's the obvious knock on Fultz.  Fultz can be a really good defender and they expect everyone to play defense so I like it.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Quote
“I think he’s pretty good. I think he has a lot of potential. I’m interested to see what he can do on the defensive side of the ball because that’s how you win games in the NBA… he’s super talented offensively, but it’s going to be a balance between everything.”

People jumping on the OP are being a little unfair - 'pretty good' and 'interested to see what he can do on the defensive side' is not exactly a ringing endorsement; at least Brown mentions Fultz's 'super talent' on the offensive end.

Jaylen is awesome and I love his incredible edge. I am hoping we can keep at least 2/3 of AB, Crowder, and Smart to teach Fultz that same intensity on the defensive end.

I posted this quote in another thread.  I think it's great -- he's illustrating how important defense is at the next level esp to the Celtics.  I hope he reiterates this when Fultz arrives.
