This is one of the worst coaching jobs in a playoff series I have ever seen.

No excuse. Toronto and Indiana both got swept, but seemed to put up a decent fight compared to this.

That game we won looked like a purpose gift after all the commotion about the NBA being weak (which it is)

Brad has literally no answer defensively and has not adjusted at all.

No reason should the Celtics get roasted at home like this 3 times in one series.

I extremely disagree with you and I am sorry in saying this but you obviously don't understand basketball enough to know how lucky we are to have Brad, any expert in the industry has been singing his praises for even getting here let alone winning a game with our only pure scorer out.

Another guy veering off to his own road lol. Good job , yes Brad is a great coach.

Sometiems you have to play for another day.  Brad can bark orders all day but if players don't listen  and you end up losing the entire team... He's more about developing this team at this point anyways.  People forget these guys are human beings sometimes.  Expecting a 20 year old kid to go up against lebron is not always realistic. Even with fultz next year i dont expect him to be that guy. If the team is good enough around him maybe he can play that tom brady role as a rookie though.

Brad to me has always been more about weighing his options anyways. He's a pretty balanced coach.

Sometimes he isn't the most aggressive in  how he prepares but this team is still young.

He's still dealing with people ultimately and young kids too sometimes.   Being a communicator is his number 1 goal.

The internet is a good example of that. Sometimes people don't even hear what you say depending on age or who they are or whatever.

The coach is as good as his players in that regard.  Not saying Brad is perfect either.

I think it's more the fact expecting a bunch of 20 years olds to beat a 32 year old lebron is not always realistic.  Could brad have prepared them for that b etter? Maybe. I question him on that somewhat.  But maybe he tried and it just wasn't happening.

Brad instead ended up sounding like Reggie Miller and like this was a learning experience this time.

Poise  isn't something you can always teach.  It comes with age.  It's also sometimes intimidating for young players.

Sometimes the other team is just better.

The Cavs are more talented but Boston should have enough talent on the floor to be better than THIS defensively.

I don't think there's much to complain about.  The Celts had the best record in the East despite having only one guy playing at an all-star level.  Smart continued to improve and Jaylen looked pretty good.  Horford's addition clearly improved the team overall.  We're the only East team to beat the Cavs in the playoffs.  We've got the #1 pick in the next month's draft.  AND it's pretty clear both what the team needs to do to improve and how we can do it.  It's pretty good to be a Celtics fan right about now.

BUT...we do need to address those two overriding weaknesses.  We need to get better talent and we need to take the defense, which noticeably slipped this season, back to an elite level.

Another ridiculous thread.  Brads coaching maximized this team this year.  That doesn't change after this series.

This was cleveland's time. There's always next time though...  HAve to maximize your potential and it's disapointing though. Cleveland was the better team.  I don't like saying that though because it's not always that cut and dry. They probably were though.

Oh please.

If Brad coached Cleveland right now, they would have gone 12-0 with margins of victory above 20+ points EVERY game.

He can't do much when he doesn't have a Lebron, misses IT for 3 games and most of this team is just TOO INCONSISTENT/STREAKY.

Exactly, TP. Nobody expected this team to be the top seed in the East, nor to make the ECF. Many had us ranked below teams like Toronto. Much of th credit has to go to Stevens, who continues to prove himself as one of the best coaches in the league, despite his age.

These threads always remind me of hoosiers and coach dale and jimmy chitwood for some reason lol.

There's always that fan who thinks the team needs this or that and sometimes they have a point and other times not so much.  There's a disconnect there sometimes. Other times the team actually is that clueless and is that fan themselves.  This is your team.  As long as I see these guys playing as hard as they can play and leaving it out there they are winners in my book.

The difference in the final game was 3 pointers: Cavs scored 9 more 3 pointers than Celtics for 27 pts. That's close to what they lost the game by.

IT had to be a difference. I understand he was playing hurt the first two games, and it wasn't made public. Without IT, the offense was too one-sided in Cavs favor. Take LeBron away from the Cavs, and they would have a tough time winning.

The other difference is their D in the paint sucks. Danny knows that, and he will take care of that this summer. He paid the price for not doing it the trade deadline this year, but I don't think he figured they'd get this far and he didn't want to mess up his cap space.

Hopefully, we'll see a better team in the fall.

Stevens has been bringing a squirt gun to a real gun fight. He needs some more talent. The only  problems I have with Stevens.

-Learn to protect home court
-Figure out why your teams come out so flat to start games.
-Improve the assistant coaching

He's a great young coach who coached his first All-Star game. Players are starting to like him around the league and that will help with FAs.

weird take,   this playoff run made me actually consider if Stevens is the very best coach in all of basketball right now.

i'd hire him over any coach right now if i had a college basketball team.   and i think i'd hire him over any coach in the nba too.
