1) Trade Yabu, Zizic, Smart, Crowder, Demtrius Jackson, LAC 1st for Butler
2) Sign Blake Griffin to 25M (assuming market rate w injury history)

Roster with CAP hit of 100.185M (under the CAP)

Isaiah Thomas   $6,000,000
Avery Bradley   $8,808,989
Jimmy Butler   $18,696,918
Al Horford   $27,734,405
Blake Griffin   $25,000,000

Jaylen Brown   $4,956,480
Terry Rozier   $1,988,520
Fultz   $7,000,000

3) Restructure IT using bird Rights to go over, starting at 25M, increasing 1M each year (total of $135 over 5 years, $27M average)  He would likely take that because in order to make more than that in the next 5 years he would have to average 32.25M per year in his next contract after his 6M year next year. Not likely to get anything more than that. 32M

4) Restructure Bradley using Bird Rights to go over CAP, 20m per over next 5 years

2019 - When Butler is Unrestricted FA, Pay Rozier
2020 - When Horford is FA, Pay Jaylen

None of the above will happen. Bradley is not taking 20... 76ers will most likely give him the max at least, or very close to it. And while IT doesn't have any obligation to take a home town discount or a pay cut, he is definitely not going to pass on a 5 million dollar pay cut either.

You can't restructure deals unless you have cap space.

And Blake still isn't taking $5 million less than the max.

Would you make that deal if you were Chicago? An All-NBA level talent for cast offs?

My point is that IT is not really taking much of a pay cut (3M per year over the next 5 years if he were to get 6 next year and 36 the next 4)  He would likely command less than max next year so its even less of a "discount" .  Its much more of an early payday/insurance than a hometown discount.  I'd still do this plan if i had to pay Bradley 25M per

Touche on the restructure...you cant go over the cap with your own player via Bird rights?  if not that foils the whole thing.

The Bulls?  If they got Brooklyn 2018 they would.  And I'd do it as a Celtics fan.  I just altered b/c people seemed to think that was outrageous.

Fultz won't be on the bench for 4-5 years, we likely can't get Griffin for less than max, BRK '18 pick should be untouchable, and there's probably no way we can resign both IT and AB.

Other than that, looks great.

Yup.

Yup.

If/when thats the case, then that means Fultz is playing better ball than either IT or Bradley, right?  When Fultz > IT or Bradley, move one of the two to the bench or trade them then.  If we don't trade Crowder, thats what will end up happening with Jaylen.

I'd do Zeller(to match salary), Bradley, Terry Rozier, the Clippers pick, Memphis pick, our 2018 pick for Paul George.

Then try to sign Jamychal Green for about 16-18 million per.

Then let everyone walk and draft Markelle Fultz.

Not a cap expert so don't know if it will work.

That'll leave us with:

Isaiah Thomas - Markelle Fultz
Jaylen Brown - Marcus Smart
Paul George - Jae Crowder
Jamychal Green
Al Horford - Ante Zizic

Not sure how we fill out the rest of the roster based on salary cap rules but would like to bring back Gerald Green, and sign a mid-level guy like Justin Holiday... I like Willie Reed as well but he will probably command around 12 million per.  Also, I wouldn't mind bringing Yabusele over to add to our front court.  Our backcourt/ wing depth would be insane.

Don't roast me if my roster is not possible

Next summer either let Thomas walk or trade him at the trade deadline.

Then next year draft Deandre Ayton. Be a terrific team in the present and then have a dynasty with Fultz-Brown-Ayton and Stevens.

Trade Smart, Crowder Brooklyn 2018 Pick, Zeller (for salary match) for Jimmy Butler -

The Chicago GM is not a Celtic Fan, I wager, so why would he do this?   It is not much value for an allstar.   The only place this trade takes place is in fairy dust land.
