I know people hated all the 76ers talk for so long and I personally hate 'the process' of tanking but they are in a unique position with Simmons as their long term point guard they really need shooters around him but if I am them I am getting Josh Jackson, even if Ball falls. Jackson is the perfect compliment to Simmons and he can play off the ball, intelligent (is a chess player similar to Brown) and is a defensive dynamo. To counter his shooting problems I am going out and paying JJ Redick and Patty Mills. Redick and Mills are perfect veterans to learn from and counter and spacing problems with Jackson and Simmons on the floor, I am also using Saric as a Toni Kukoc type of 6th man who runs the second unit.

Embiid
Simmons
Jackson
Redick
Mills

Saric

How do you think this team would perform?

Apparently Brown wants Ben Simmons as his true point guard with the ball in his hands so Tatum may not be the best fit.

They are really high on JJ Redick. If we need to trade AB at any time, maybe the Sixers would be a decent way to get some value back.

Yeah I'd say they would offer JJ the max and the only thing stopping him going there would be if he ever wants a Ring which the 76ers won't be able to do, I actually love Bradley and hope he is resigned but I see your point, him and Crowder will be extremely valuable trade assets if Danny wants to move them.

I hate it when we kinda know a player is probably going to leave and we have enough time to trade them for an asset....but we don't and then they walk later on.

I'd offer Saric and Covington for Crowder, Rozier, Yabusele and a pick (Clippers one or something like that)
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

I would treat Embiid as a player that has 5 years of all star production and he might not play beyond that. Then I would try to build a team around him within the next 2 years. I'd try to sign George Hill, Reddick and see where I end up next year. That team would win 42-46 games in the east, while still developing young talent. Embiid will either be Hakeem or Oden and he is their best young player.

that is a terrible trade for the Sixers
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I would take Jackson if I were the 76ers also, but I think Tatum is the kind of solid player who can fit into any system.

But when you're drafting 3rd, you take talent not fit, and after Fultz, that guy in this draft is Jackson.

I'd love AB on the Sixers(he's the best fit in terms of guards maybe in the NBA), but with the glut of guards in Boston I'd be surprised if you could get much for one year of him. I can't see Boston being able to keep/pay him with the number of guys they have under contract in the backcourt.

Giving big contracts to role players like Redick and Mills would be about the worst thing the Sixers could do.  They need to maintain flexibility with their cap space.  If Embiid stays healthy, they'll be able to use that cap space to build a true contender.  If Embiid can't stay healthy, they don't want Reddick and Mills tying up cap space and getting meaningless wins.  They could still have two more top 5s in 2018 and two more top 5s in 2019.

The Sixers should:

1)  Try to work an extension with Embiid that saves them some money and gives him some security.
2)  Try to work a front loaded extension with Covington.  He's a very good fit with Embiid and Simmons.
3)  Try to trade up for Fultz
4)  Try to trade for Butler
5)  If they still have the #3 pick, they should draft BPA.  I'd say that is probably Jackson or Fox with Isaac as an outside possibility.
